Not good.
Game appears unfinished with glitches and anomalies early on. Jumping sections are a very unpleasant.

A breath of fresh air
Darksiders was crumbling with the weight of its outdated mechanics, story progression and cohesion. Each game was rated lower than the previous and it just felt that the franchise was heading for failure. Genesis is that breath of fresh air. It's a satisfying game with a good story and a phenomenally voice acted protagonist. It's really what the franchise was needing and I am happy the developers weren't afraid to change things up. 100% get it!

Halfway Abandoned Mobile game
The all-around design is that of a mobile game. As a Darksiders game, it's very sub-par. As a game in general - mostly average. Design-wise: -Short levels with intro and outro cinematics, selectable from a hub. -Two distinct currencies, of which you need both to purchase items/upgrades. -Gem/rune progression system, in the vein of 'combine 2 lesser for 1 regular, 2 regular for 1 big' etc. -Random drop rate with huge 'rune' variety. You can buy chests containing 5 random 'rune' drops with in-game currency. -UI for all abilities that's permanently on screen, located near the bottom corners, like most mobile games. -"Quests" that you turn in from the main menu fro in-game currency. Consist of things like "break every crate in a level"/ "defeat x number of y enemy" / "defeat x boss" Story: -Characters lack depth; they feel like they've been boiled down to caricatures. -Not much significant interaction between protagonists. -Strife is interesting as a character, but is not explored. -War has been reduced to an angry meathead; -Subtitles are desynched on all cinematics. Jank: -Certain levers will clip you into walls consistently. -Uneaven terrain may make you go into a falling animation while you're still on the ground. -Levers use the same button as "execute enemy" and are still interactable during combat. -The isometric camera is a flat-out hindrance to the platforming. -As Strife, your bullets will sometimes not hit where your crosshair is due to camera angle; guns are unusable on stairwells.
