I figured after all the delays, they had more testing under their belts.
Freaking love the game, but bugs..... One of my PCs crashes every 5 to 30 minutes. Thankfully it has many checkpoints, but I've been bitten hard by lost progress.
The frequency of their updates is awesome though! Already on 1.04 a few days in.
Well... There is a lot of bugs, graphical or technical... sprites that freezes or flash, conversation that cuts, and everything else. Bugs are expected from big sandboxes, even more when a lot of mechanics interacts. In that state, it is still very much playable and enjoyable - and I trust CD Projekt to fix them in time.
Anyway, no bugs really troubled me that much, because this game has something I seek that not a lot of them have: a soul. I felt immersed, way more than the Deus Ex or the Assassin's Creed of this age. The city is living, the character is too, the story is well told and the gameplay is adequate (a little minus on the hand-to-hand combat, that get... ectic very quickly).
But the universe, the story, the characters... everything is breathing, everybody has a personality, and the player is organically immersed - not infodumped.
As always, storytelling is the greatest strength of CD Projekt Red in my opinion, and I just want to shout out to the team a big thank you, it's an incredibly well done job in my opinion.
To sum up, I'll quote Yathzee : " the split has always been thus: games that make you feel vs. games that make you numb."
And this game made me feel. I recommend it to those who seek a good story, a good cyberpunk vibe, a good RPG - Emphasis on the "Role."
I absolutely love this game. To start: I didn’t preorder, I didn’t even buy day one, so I’m not a delusional super fan haha. From all the reviews I expected this game to be a broken mess and my experience has been anything but! In 13 hours played I’ve experienced 2 minor glitches (characters hair disappearing in the mirror when wearing a hat, and a random car that disappeared when blocking a scripted characters path). Knock on wood, so far nothing that’s soured my experience. I’m playing on a 1070 at High settings, 1080p and a little resolution scaling. Took some fiddling but it plays great! The game itself is shaping up to be one of my favorite open world action RPG experiences ever. It’s just fun. I haven’t even gotten to Keanu yet because I’m taking my time doing gigs and leveling. I love it so much. I’m not sure what people expected but I actually feel bad for CDPR.. it’s a great game. The press and negative response made me think it was unplayable and that’s just not the case (at least on PC). I’m so glad I took the chance and bought it. Witcher 3 at launch had heavy performance and bugs... but look at it now. I’m confident Cyberpunk will be no different. This is a game I’ll play multiple times. Now, and when I upgrade. Looks gorgeous even on my aging mid range spec so can’t imagine what it will look like down the line. Easy 5 stars from me. Thanks CDPR. Keep your heads up, time is going to be kind to this one
game was what was advertised almost if you don't count the bugs and techical issues. SDD required not reccomended. the game is literally broken if you install on an hdd. ugly texture streaming on charactor face and other objects. ui and in game menus get broken on hdd. load times feel broken from being slower. if you play this game on hdd you'll get the ps4 bugs and its bad textures. don't get this game unless you have at least 100 gb of sdd storage maybe even more. It does piss me off that it seems to not let me instal the game on an exteral sdd. bascilly right now I can't play the game.
so hows the actual game so far well its probably the most detail open world game I've played and most interactive. unlike gta most buildings in cyberpunk are enterable. bascilly think of this game as more of a fallout new vegas type rpg with some witcher style quests mixed with a little little gta as the game really plays more of like new vegas than gta since its an rpg. and also think of deus ex. the games open world really isn't small its pretty massive because most of the games exporlation is vertical as in buildings and rooftops. so far this game is buggy and I've encoutered a bug the first time I started the game and it was on the corpo life path. the palm trees clip into buliding and it was werid. one was a broken quest which I had to reload when you get your first cyberware. their was audio bugs and I got one crash. their is also some physic gliches and animation bugs. the games too buggy. the bugs that I experience weren't game breaking say for one but mostly annoying and immersion breaking. if you play on a hdd drive don't you get a broken game instal it will work for a while then the ui and the menus plus the awful npc texture loading. I update this review when the games issues are fixed. right now this is an incompelte review because I have not even completed most of the game. only 24 hours in. a game being delayed four times should mean fully polished but its not
I've had a great time with this game so far, and I'm a huge fan of the Cyberpunk rpg books. To me being able to experience Night City in a game means a great deal, and CDPR has managed to deliver perfectly on that front. There are bugs to be found, and though my experience hasn't been too bad, there has been times where my experience was soured by them. Most prominent issues I've experienced have already been dealt with but the occasional bug does sometimes appear.
Pros:
Amazing story and world
Great characters
Brilliant soundtrack
solid combat and gunplay
Cons:
Still in need of some polish
Certain bugs can break the immersion
I love the setting of Cyberpunk and I hope that CDPR has learned from their mistakes with this realease state so that the next Cyberpunk game can be amazing from release.
Ultimately you might wanna hold off on buying until we're a few more patches in, the worst has been fixed but I imagine that you'll get an even better experience by waiting a bit longer.
