Was there ANYTHING good this year?
If this game was a "no name" without any expectations, it could be really nice. In case some of these problems everyone talks about were gone...
At least I am really excited to see, how they push a DLC in this Story.
"Hey V, if you don't hurry up and care about that thing in your head, you could lose your mind. But hey, here is a new part of the city with new jobs and fancy cars you really have to take a look at!" - ?
Just finished my first playthrough ( 58 hours ) last night on PS4 Pro. It was a rough ride but by gods I got to the end. I'm a big fan of jank so most of the graphical descrepancies and bugs were more of a nuisance than a deal breaker for me. They were even righteously annoying at some points in the game but I found reasons to press on. Narrative, characters, and the over all world of NC will drag you in and hold you there until the story is over. Its certainly not a traditional RPG but skill trees are robust and I realized too late how sweet a highly specialized character might be ( Being a Hacker/Sword Wielder yields some truly awesome moments though ). Truly, there is a great game buried underneath all of the glitches, bugs, and controversy. I personally enjoyed it a great deal but am sticking with 3/5 stars because of the state of the title upon release.
I keep wondering where all those good things you showed us in 2018 went. Have you spent most of the last couple of years on cutting content? Seriously? Where are those third-person cutscenes, the character creation menu with all the backgrounds you showed us? It's also impossible to remake (or at least give it a similarity) to V seen in the demo. It's a joke? This besides being my last mistake is also my biggest disappointment ever and I'm not kidding at all. - -"
I have played over 100 hours of this game, and two stars is all I'm willing to give this game in its current state as of January 2021.
It's more than just the bugs, it's also the loads of cut content that kills my enjoyment. I wanted to like this game so badly, but every time I get absorbed into part of the story I am hit with yet another game-breaking bug or I realize yet another piece of content that is so far below half-baked that Gordon Ramsay would call it raw (i.e. melee combat, throwing knives, aiming, taking cover, picking up items, interacting with items, driving, no ability to shoot while driving, the insane inbalance of revenue from the game versus the prices of all the vehicles you're expected to shomehow grind for hours and hours to purchase just one of, the inconsequential impacts of life paths, the insane lack of romance options or any felt purpose or meaningful build-up for romancing, the incredibly disorganized and half-baked menu screens, THE LACK OF KEY BINDING CUSTOMIZATION, and so much more.)
It is at a point where I have decided to simply put this game down and not play it again until I see review media showing that the game has been massively overhauled with previously cut content added back in (as it should have been present in the first place!)
Not happy at all with CD Projekt's leadership and the way they have screwed over the devs. Make it right CD Projekt, and don't you dare go throwing your devs under the bus, you need to face the music.
