Railroading is all there is

This game gives you many tools to solve the problems it presents to you. Then, it punishes you for trying to use the wrong tools when it gives you no prompt for its own expectations. You play the game the way the game wants, not the way you want. Nevermind the numerous egregious bugs, the game's jobs are just poorly written. You don't get any foresight into how the writers expect you to complete a job until the job is committed and you simply can not progress because you don't have points in a specific build. You don't get to find your own way to solve quest problems. This game was marketed for giving the player freedom of choice, but it does not allow you to approach missions the way you would like to solve them. Do it exactly as written, or, in most cases, you can't do it at all. Nevermind doing a job in a less than ideal manner. Often, you just don't get to do the mission if you aren't built properly. Not "do the mission, but there are frustrating consequences". More like "do sidejobs until you cave and add points where we believe they should be". Everything about this game promotes save scumming and external modding while forcing a railroaded, linear path forward. Female Streetkid Engineer or Male Corpo Samurai, those are pretty much the only options the writers considered viable.

I really enjoyed the game

I knew it would be hard for CDPR to beat The Witcher 3. And I must say - I enjoyed the main story from Cyberpunk more than main story from base Witcher (apart from the Bloody Baron questline, main game felt like generic fantasy). But I think that CDPR didn't manage to top "Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine" in terms of the storyline. If you don't know what the whole game is about I think you can sum up it's story and world (without spoilers) as "a little bit like 1984". PROS: + It has a lot of memorable moments which for me were the best parts of the game and are the reason why I rated this game 5/5. + Every build you come up with seems viable and let's you have fun with the game in your own way (it's much better than Witcher 3 skilltree). + I liked shooting in the game (but I did not play many shooters before - last one I played was Call of Duty 2). + Music. + At first I thought that Keanu Reeves would be just a famous actor that is hired to bring more attention to the game, but after playing the game I can't imagine this game without him as Johnny Silverhand. + There's no better companion than Johnny. None of the characters in the Witcher felt as real and as well written as Johnny (maybe its due to the fact that we spend so much time with him). CONS: - From time to time it feels like a lot of content from the game was cut out, because choices made in the game are decided usually by one or two lines of dialogue rather than being a result of previous ones. Game often feels rushed. - Sidejobs/Gigs really make the game feel less polished. Low quality of these quests makes you miss those trully wonderful side quests that are made even better than in Witcher 3. (My advice is just to skip them completely. Some of them are on Ubisoft level). - Hacking seems too overpowered. - Why the hell they spoiled 1/2 of the game in E3/Gamescom trailers?! Summary: After I finished the game I thought for 3 days straight about it - I think it's another masterpiece.

Should be viewed as a work-in-progress

After spending over 100 hours in the game, and now experimenting with a second playthrough, I can offer some perspective that isn't tainted by extreme, gut-level reaction. This is a good game, and it has the potential to be a great game, but the experience is severely limited by endless bugs and core game issues. Many of these issues are frustrating and nearly game-breaking. It absolutely feels like an early access or open beta. But it does a lot right and has enormous potential. PROS: - The game's visual design is simply spectacular. This is one of the most fully realized, meticulously crafted game worlds ever created, period. - Excellent story, writing, and voice acting. So far, I've only played as fem V (portrayed by Cherami Leigh), and I can say that Leigh's voice acting is pure perfection; emotionally resonant and always authentic. Generally, this is true across the board (including Keanu, who really does feel like the ghost of an angsty, washed-up rocker). The main quest is filled with twists & turns and intelligently defies expectations while always feeling like a natural progression. - So in terms of world-building and story, this is absolutely on par with (if not even better than) The Witcher 3. CONS: - Too many bugs to list here. From the loading screens (which often show up as black with only animated portions visible) to the NPCs to the UI to even the game's ending...this is without question *the* buggiest AAA release I have ever played in my life. Should've been called "early access." Bugs permeate every single aspect of the game. - Lack of basic quality-of-life features for an open world game, too many to mention (I had to use a mod to improve the awful driving controls). - Simply bad core gameplay features, from the inelegant choice to spam the player with side-quests, to damage-sponge enemies and uneven combat. There's so much more to say about the horrible bugs and gameplay issues... I'm hopeful that this will be a better game someday.

A whole lot of...not much.

It looks good, and it's big... But it's a big shiny amount of not much in the end. A first person shooter with mediocre gunplay. A RPG with hardly any interactivity. An open world with...Not that many things to do. For what it aimed to be and promised, it does not deliver. If there hadn't had the hype surrounding it? Not counting the bug and all, it would be an okay game I guess. But there's better alternative elsewhere, especially in the RPG genre: Get Baldur's Gate 3. Wasteland 3. Disco Elysium, and plenty less known title will offer just as much. For shooters? I don't know man...We're on Deus Ex Invisible War level of gameplay there, it's really not hard to find better. If you really wanna play a game in a cyberpunk setting, I guess it's your best bet...But it's not as great as it tried to be.

Great game but only if they will fix it

This would be a GOTY material if they would release it 1 year later. Right now it's barely playable, buggy and half-baked. It's definitely not worth your money in it's current state. We can only hope that CDPR will deliver promised post launch fixes, and give us the game we were waiting for.
