First the positives:
It's pretty, dense, colorful and feels very alive. The UI is adequate most of the times and the writing is well done
The meh:
The gameplay is adequate at best, there's nothing groundbreaking or amazingly fun. Deus Ex did a better job at stealth/hacking so far IMHO, the AI makes most fight repetitive or silly (sure rush me, by walking, while I gun you down).
The negative:
Lack of depth in the plot/characters, it could have been used to convey a message or something. It feels like a nihilistic edgelord designed the world. Sure cyberpunk tends to be a dystopia, but there should be some message.
The sex ads are a great example so far, it feels male gaze centered, cheap and pointless. Yet they are ubiquitous and don't convey... much
i was very excited - because I love the cyberpunk aesthetic since my teenage years - so I am always looking forward to games that represent this aesthetic and so with all the advertising of how extraordinary and advanced it will be - it is plain and simple a huge let down.
when it comes to creating your character, games like saints row IV (2013) and fallout4 (2015) had a more advanced system than cyberpunk - even skyrim's (2011) character editor was better. what bugs me a lot: in the game you can't change yourself, as the story continues and makes progress, you can't have progress in your style: getting more tatts or change the hair, piercing, make up or change your augs at plastic doc - first i thought you can look into mirrors and at least change your hair & make up but no, you can just stare. a friend said: you feel like the most average character in NC under all these npcs. true and so sad, bc he is right.
lifepaths, dialogue options, nothing is of impact. no relationships to the people around you. they hate you or they don't care, there are no deeper connections to them. risky situation, you know all is f***ked. dialogue. 3 options. you know all s***s but you calm your partner down with option 3. and instead from going on and make progress with that choice, dialogue just ends by using option 1 where you scream and blame your partner. 97% all of the dialogues are like that.
the characters are not enough to go but the technical bugs with keys and all, has been adressed by others.
the only plus point is the rich enviroment and the open world (and even here it lacks badly with interacting with it).
when i see, all the other games and how they all were on release date and how far back they came out - i don't know where CDPR takes the audacity to bring out a game with so many bugs and flaws and delay it two big times.
Every time I try open the game up on my PC. I get the same message. It goes like this,
"Whoa! Cyberpunk 2077 has flatlined. We've created this anonymous error report, which you can send our way to help us fix the problems in the near dear future."
I successfully downloaded the game and yet I can't play it. I've restarted my PC. I logged out my account and relogged in. I don't know what to do. What I do know is that $60 is not in my bank account no more and yet I am unable to play a game is officially out and that I officially purchased.
I enjoyed this game at first, but it gets old really fast. The combat and driving are lackluster, the characters are bland, the MAIN character is completely forgettable - unlike Geralt, which is the caliber of writing I was expecting and paying for. Then you have all the bugs, which screams that nobody tested this or that if they did, nobody cared to fix the problems - too busy playing with their virtual dicks, I suppose. The graphics are amazing, but I paid for a game, not a movie. I have requested a refund. My only hope is that they'll pull a "no man's sky" and make the game significantly better, in which case I'll grab it when it goes on sale.
