If I could, I'd give this game a fourth star if and when they iron out the *many* bugs, and maybe fifth star when they actually finish the game (which will no doubt include multiple DLC releases). But that's not where we are now. As it stands, it's simply not worth $60. Not even close.
So, I can create a character then I cannot cut my hair, add/remove tattoos, modify my body as I want...yes I want to become a bloody cyborg, problems? Is not cyberpunk a game where I can be whatever I want? Even the bloody witcher, a pre-made character, has opportubity to cut hair...And I cannot visualize braindance I buy, so what's the point of them?
Why don't introduce braindance as a mode to solve cases (yes, I am looking at arkham series). You copied a lot of stuff from whactdogs, so you could also take things from RDR2, GTA, Arkham, etc...I hope in some update, guy.
For god's sake, damned, I want to cut my hair and remove make up without starting again.
Simply put, I strongly recommend people to not purchase this game at this time. As I have only put in around 7 hours, I won’t center this review around game mechanics or the actual narrative. Unfortunately, I must review this game on things that should’ve been an easy A, but CD Project failed.
The key bindings for mouse and keyboard are horrible. To make matters worse we can’t even bind certain actions like “dash” to something else. Who on earth tested the mouse and keyboard controls? I press WASD many times moving about, so I found myself dashing when I did not want to, screwing over my stealth attempts many times. We are not able to change our ADS sensitivity, we can’t bind a walk button, we can’t change our action button from F to E.
This game is missing quality of life aspects which should be present in any open world RPG game. It is downright embarrassing that a game with this much development time does not have a freaking barber shop; or is there lore that I’m missing where in 2077 no hair stylists exist? I find the character customization to be rather mediocre. I should be able to change my character’s weight, muscle density, height, etc. In 2077, I imagine I should be able to change how my character looks if I am not happy with how my character looks in the world. I should be able to “transmog” my gear so I don’t look like a clown for the sake of having the best gear. And I don’t care if I can upgrade my cool looking gear later in the game, I should be able to transmog my gear right away.
Lastly, I am really dissapointed with CD Project's approach to marketing the game. Not only did you lie to console owners, but you did not even enable reviewers to show it. To me, that is nearly criminal. You should be penalized (legally) for putting out a product that does not match up with what was advertised. You are supposed to be above this CD Project Red, you might as well be EA.
TLDR: horrible PC keybindings, poor character customization, unethical marketing
Phew.
Its rare for me to have more than 5 minutes with this game before glitches pop up, time and time again. Theres a reproducible bug where cars slam into a bollard in front of your apartment because the pathing is fucked up that pretty much very player is going to see if they stand there for more than 5 seconds, for a brazen example, I dont think I need to show the 1 million videos on twitter showcasing them all. Also I have a 1070 and a 3800x and the game runs awful, i'd hate to see it on anything lower. Blobby mess, ruining any good art direction there might've been.
The missions are dull, the side missions and main missions are usually go here, sneak through area or shoot and be done with it. Theres nothing in here I havn't done in GTA or Far Cry, where it was done better. This game brings nothing new to the table. Theres your mandatory go throughout the city and collect 20 mcguffins and some street racing.
The shooting is serviceable but shallow. Once again nothing new here, nothing outside of a far cry game. Same with the driving, no firing from the vehicle, just driving, no ways to mod your cars to have them feel different, no upgrades, nothing "cyberpunk" about them other than visuals. Once again, its done better elsewhere.
The PC controls are so clearly meant for consoles its painful, the double tap dodge mechanic is so bad. I dont think ive needed to dodge in combat at all and the only time I do its usually when im trying to position myself to pickup some item that only has a 1 pixel window to pick it up. Oh by the way, fallout figured out that just holding the reload button was a perfectly fine way to holster your weapon instead of the dumb double tap alt we have here (which always draws my other weapon before I can holster.)
I cannot recommend this game even if all this were to be somehow patched (which im very doubtful of), given what CDPR did to its workforce to get this out the door as well as its edgy use of marketing towards the gamer crowd.
In polish we have a word for that kind of broken thing which is bad from the start. This word is "bubel". CP2077 is bubel. There are so many errors and glitches in this game that it should'nt be sold at this stage. It is like beta test for which I paid 200 zlotys.
