I guess people had a bad start, but honestly I came in after the 1.5 patch, and by that time everything was pretty much fixed. On my first play through only had 1 issue. If you like Blade Runner or Altered Carbon, you'll love this game. If you have Netflix go watch Edgerunners to pump you up!
I played Cyberpunk before Witcher and Witcher 3 showed me afterwards how Cyberpunk should have been in my view... Witcher 3 had much more depth.
Pro:
-it really looks good, nice graphics
-great soundtrack
-cyberpunk atmosphere
-I dont think its that buggy anymore, was more or less stable (in 2022)
in between:
main story is ok but somehow it left me untouched. Silverhand is cool but i didnt like many NPCs (thats much better in Witcher for example)
Cons:
-many side quests felt boring to me
-you dont really feel the RPG part...
-the devs wanted to please the woke part of our society in every aspect which at some point went on my nerves...
I was really excited to see the game on sale in GOG after the release of 2.0. I'd heard that they really fixed the game up properly now, and was eager to see what all the fuss was about. Imagine my disappointment then, when I was still unable to customize key bindings, and the game slowed to a crawl every 2 minutes even on medium graphics settings despite my gaming rig sporting an R9 with 16GB RAM and an RTX 4080 (well over even the recommended specs). I ran the benchmark on Raytracing High and averaged 120fps, but during actual gameplay I got no where near that, and even with the fps locked at 60, still ran into consistant freezing despite my hardware not being taxed (cpu and gpu both under 50% and RAM staying steady at 12/16GB used). I love the setting and really want to love this game. But right now, I'm having trouble thinking of a reason not to refund it....
The game had its well documented problems to start but I played through it right after release on my old i7-7700k and GTX 1070. I managed to play through the whole game and really loved it. The characters are some of the best ever created and even with my old rig the graphics were impressive. There were a lot of problems...but now flash forward and I have a new rig with a 5800X3D and a 3080 ti and now this game is really amazing. Most of the complaints I had were solved and after coming abck to this game 3 years later its like playing a whole new game. The skills are completely redone and combat feels completely different. Plus theres actually car combat beyond sticking your head out as a passenger and shooting a few preset enemies during just a few mission. If this game had been released in this curent 2.1 state it would rival any game out for Game of the Year. I'm really enjoying jumping back into Night City and seeing all the new features in action. I can already tell you its a whole new game. I'm really glad I saved most of the side stuff until I came back to it because at least half of the game is new to me. I urge anyone who enjoys open world games to give this one a try.
In the first 60 seconds, I had a lens flare that completely glitched (becoming a pink garbled mess). Then, I walk out of the bathroom and I see trees being rendered through the walls.
Whatever happened to “the game will be released when it is ready”? I am not saying the game is unplayable, but it is not polished either. You should hold off until you can play it without being reminded every 30 seconds that you’re not actually in Night City.
