For what it aims to achieve, Cyberpunk is a good game. It has a highly detailed, original world. The quests are interesting. The graphics nice.
The point is just that for my tastes, it is far too negative. The city shown is full of junk and garbage, depicting a desintegrated society, run down, ugly citizens in equally run down, concrete skycrapers. You have cutthroat gangs that hate and kill each other, senseless violence in TV, abuse and cutthroat corporations.
It's simply not a world I would like to live in. I would rather ride a horse through Skyrim for the 10000th time.
I'm simply not the target audience.
I personally did only encounter two minor graphical glitches in a few hours game time. So I might be lucky there, seeing reviews from other folks. Yeah some polish is needed: Cop A.I., keybindings, language settings not saving after a patch but aside of that the world and the story are totally grabbing me. I encountered no quest bug (something not triggering) yet or any issues which forced me to reload.
I am not a fan of open world, I always need a strong main or side story line I can follow. While I understand the fascination of open worlds they never really grabbed me. Cyberpunk for me is the perfect mix of a somewhat open world and strong story lines. So first of the kind to appeal to me.
I am also surprised that I can run basically most settings on High and Ultra graphics-wise on 1080p even though I only have an Nvidia 1070 in my system with a Ryzen 5 3600X. Also I experience no delays in loading textures or anything in that area. So top score from me in terms of performance, obviously my 1070 has no RTX. Looks to me like some stuff in your system can seriously mess up your performance reading through the reviews where people have much more capable systems than myself.
So all in all: Great game! Seriously good writing and characters I can relate to. Keep on going and give the game the final polish but I can totally recommend the game right now on PC.
There is so much noise surrounding this game, and there's good reason. CDPR had to, I think, put flagging finances ahead on the priority list, and the game had simply taken ages in development. Maybe they bit off a bit more than they could chew, maybe there were production issues or management problems. Who knows. Game dev is complex and can fail or falter in a multitude of ways, and that's how we find ourselves in the position we're in, with a hyped game that's had a pretty mixed launch.
I'm nearing I think 30 hours in, and I've played through the first act and a little of the second, and am enjoying exploring the city and doing side content. I can say a few things with relative certainty, though of course your mileage will vary depending on your play style and your PC.
To begin with, the game isn't as buggy as I was expecting. I've experienced about 8 or 9 documented bugs, almost all just small cosmetic things. I've not had any crashes, nor quest bugs. Nothing that's impacted my enjoyment of the game at all. Performance isn't phenomenal, but my rig is about 5 years old at this point, and the game runs well on a mix of ultra, high, and medium settings.
Secondly, this is a game that should be played on a higher difficulty. Some have complained about a lack of depth, but I'm playing on the hardest difficulty, and that's necessitated interfacing with all the game's systems, from crafting to character-building. It's all been quite satisfying.
Finally, this is a game that would have fared better had it come out even a few years ago. It doesn't do anything especially new. You've played all this stuff in some form or other before, most likely, but it does give you a big open world with incredible atmosphere, a giant toybox of stuff to play around with, and lots of ways to occupy your time.
This isn't a perfect game, but it's held my attention and given me a great deal of joy, to the point where I'm looking forward to DLC expansions even more than future patches.
I'm giving this five stars because bugs can be fixed. At its core, Cyberpunk 2077 is a damn good game, but has performance and bug issues, and some questionable control schemes, especially with the vehicles. The people complaining it's "Not immersive" seem to be looking for an experience like GTA or Yakuza, while Cyberpunk 2077 offers something more along the lines of Deus Ex or The Witcher 3.
