What begins as a simple rescue mission becomes the battleground of a new war, as alien invaders swarm over a North Korean island chain. Armed with a powerful Nanosuit, you must achieve your objectives by any means necessary. Become invisible to stalk enemy patrols, or boost your strength to lay waste to vehicles. An advanced AI controls your enemies, so play smart. One wrong move out here could be your last.
Adapt to Survive – An epic story thrusts players into an ever-changing environment, forcing them to adapt their tactics and approach to conquer battlefields ranging from newly frozen jungle to zero-gravity alien environments.
Suit up – A high-tech Nanosuit allows gamers to augment their abilities in real time on the battlefield. Players can choose to enhance their speed, strength, armor and cloaking abilities to approach situations in creative tactical ways.
Customizable Weaponry – A huge arsenal of modular weaponry gives gamers unprecedented control over their play style. Blow the opposition away with experimental weapons, discover alien technology and utilize custom ammunition from incendiary-tipped rounds to tactical munitions that can silently put foes to sleep.
Veni Vidi Vici – Lifelike enemy AI challenges players to assess a situation and approach it strategically. It isn't about having the fastest trigger finger – players are challenged to be proactive in the fight, not reactive.
Zero-G Gameplay – Battle a horrifying alien species in a true Zero-gravity environment, where physics change everything as players must adapt to moving in Zero-G and contending with the recoil from their weapons and more.
Next-Generation Graphics – Built from the ground up using Crytek's proprietary CryENGINE 2™, Crysis' visuals define "state of the art," with full DX10 support and scalable options to deliver solid performance on older machines.
Open, Physicalized World – Choose your own path through the open world of Crysis, destroying obstacles, driving vehicles from VTOL's to boats and using the environment itself against your enemies.
This is easily the best game of the series. Crysis has vast open maps offering multiple ways to handle battle scenarios. Physics and environment interactivity is still in the top tier, in reality games of today are more limited in this regard than this 2007 title, which is a shame for current series. Not to mention graphics, which is still awesome and demanding in 4K, but it looks terrific. If you are into the FPS genre and you are full with more recent overrated shooters then this game is a mandatory addition to your library. Its a classic.
I wouldn't say Crysis is a classic game because the main contribution it made to PC gaming in its time are probably going to be the game's fantastically beautiful (for its time) graphics. However, it is certainly well-made overall even aside from graphics, and has fun gameplay and a decent story as well.
I would certainly say the gameplay in this is quite a bit more interesting than the gameplay in conventional action shooter games like Call of Duty 4. And the fact the company put so much work into making graphics that were incredible and industry-leading for its time means Crysis still looks halfway decent even today -- even if it is showing its age a bit.
Enthusiast gamers who have been gaming since the time of Crysis will no doubt recall the numerous "Can it run Crysis?" comments whenever a new graphics card came out, demonstrating the game's history as the benchmark of supreme PC gaming graphics (for its time anyway), and the game's historical role in pushing PC gamers to get ever more powerful graphics cards so they could run this. Thus, apart from playing a highly rated and well-made game, new players are now given the opportunity to experience some serious PC gaming history here.
I was surprised to see Crysis on the Steam store has SecuROM DRM with a limited number of activations/installations of the game. It seems ridiculous to me that EA and the developer didn't patch it out of the game by now considering Crysis is 14 years old as of when I write this review. Fortunately, I was delighted to see this version of this historic gem is available on GOG so we don't have to put up with that nonsense to enjoy this fantastic game!
The game has a bit of a Half-Life feel, and shares many similarities with games from that franchise. If you enjoyed games like Half-Life 2 and you never got around to playing Crysis, you should definitely give this game a chance.
I've really appreciated this game: it's a solit first person shooter with a great freedom of approach. Wonderful graphic, very good voice acting, great weapon equipment and nanosuit powes.
My pc (Ryzen 5 3400G, 16GB DDR4 Ram, no specific GPU) could run the game at 1080p with high setting at 60pfs on almost each situation.
Some people dismissed Crysis as a "benchmark" or "tech demo" when it came out. I can only assume they had too low a frame rate to appreciate the gameplay and level design. That or they didn't even try to use the Nanosuit to its full potential.
Once you've mastered the suit, you can leap around like a ninja, pull off perfect stealth attacks and even take down entire bases literally bare-handed. Combine that with expansive levels, several vehicles to drive and modifiable weapons, and you get yourself the most liberating FPS experience since the original FarCry. Nice-looking jungles, beaches and aliens are just a bonus.
Admittedly, the last few levels are very linear and heavily scripted, but their design and pacing are good enough to make up for that.
This is game is really fun and gorgeous, the battle with the tanks made the graphics act a little funny. But it crashes more often than not when i load or save. quicksave this game a lot
