Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

This game is a masterpiece. ICO is one of my favorite games of all time (I wrote a bajillion-word essay on why it's so great), and the similarities here are apparent, so one wouldn't be surprised by my adoration for it; however, this game adds something new: using its (often jarring and frustrating) dual-analog stick controls to effectively convey the connection/symbiosis of its protagonists, two adolescent brothers searching for a cure for their dying father. This mechanic culminates in one of the most powerful and affective climaxes in any game - due in part to the highly unique controls. Apart from that, much like ICO, the camera plays a huge part in telling the story by treating you to breathtaking vistas and wonderfully odd (and often unsettling) environments. It's a trip down the rabbit hole, a hero's quest, and a tale of the unbreakable bond between brothers all in one. Most of all: it's a game with a heart.

Gaming is full of worlds with magic, but it is very rare to find a truly magical world, such as this one. Gaming is also full of epic adventures, but it is also very rare to find a true quest, such as this one. In this game, you control two brothers, one with each hand, on their journey. Expect a number of puzzles, a few (puzzle) bosses, a touching story, and one of the most intelligent uses of simple controls I have seen in years. The game is a bit on the short side, but I personally do not mind, as these few hours played were more fulfilling than most games I have played as an adult. Caveat: Do not be fooled by the cute graphics, this is *not* a game for children. It is sad and scary, you have been warned. Caveat: I do not think that this game can be played without a controller.

This game is a masterpiece! And for all the right reasons! I've played a ton of video games.. (and have helped develop and design several too!) This is arguably one of a the best video games I've ever played in my life! The entire vibe of this video game is stunningly beautiful. The vivid scenery mixed with clever level design mixed with a compelling soundtrack make the entire experience unforgettable. The controls are very easy and very intuitive yet at some times very challenging to keep you engaged and focused. My favorite part is how an entire story can be told with out any real dialog. Five STARS! Two Thumbs up! Way up! Get this game!

Beautiful greaphics and moving storyline. Me and my 13-year old nephew played it as a co-op and we really liked it. I only wish the game was a little bit more demanding.
