Guide two brothers on an epic fairy tale journey from visionary Swedish film director, Josef Fares, and top-tier developer, Starbreeze Studios.

Control both brothers at once as you experience co-op play in single player mode, like never before.

Solve puzzles, explore the varied locations and fight boss battles, controlling one brother with each thumbstick.

A man, clinging to life. His two sons, desperate to cure their ailing father, are left with but one option. They must set out upon a journey to find and bring back the "Water of Life" as they come to rely on one another to survive. One must be strong where the other is weak, brave where the other is fearful, they must be... Brothers.

This is one journey you will never forget.

Smooth "Show don't tell"

You know those games that are know for showing you the story, the mechanics, the objectives rather that tell you about those, but sooner rather than later you are googling stuff? This isn't one of those. It is build in such way you'll figure out what is happening and what you need to do from what it is shown and what you did in previous puzzles. I didn't search for a walkthrough, I never needed to check one. The story is quite straight forward, you could argue it has 1 twist. I completed the game in around 4 hours without caring for achievements. And that number may be inflated, I began the game wasting time trying to loot boxes and barrels as it was an RPG. The challenge curve goes up slowly and never becomes seriously challenging. I never tried to perform anything more that 3 times before succeeding.

More of an interactive story than a game

The linearity of play, lack of puzzles, and limited opportunities to die make this feel more like an interactive story than a game. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it is something to be aware of. Once you get past the poorly animated opening scene of the mother drowning (a hand-drawn still, like they used in Bastion, would have been better than the clumsy use of the Unreal engine), the game mechanic of controlling two characters is both fun and clever. There are some optional things to do in this very short game/story, but the GOG version lacks the achievements of the Steam version (though the Achievements menu option is still there) and without recognition that you "did something" these moments just become tangents to the quest to save your sick father rather than game elements. Also, there is no gravitas to dying, which is a real missed opportunity considering the type of game/story this is. A simple cutscene, even if only words, rather than automatically loading the last checkpoint when you die, something like "...and so the brothers joined their mother in the afterlife, and without medicine, their father soon followed" would have enhanced the playing experience. Overall, Brothers is enjoyable experience, and I'd certainly buy a sequel, but for the few hours of "gameplay", don't it at full price.

Very emotionally game

I allready own this game on Steam but HAD to buy it again when i saw it released DRM free on GOG today. This game is definitly worth it´s price! There aren´t many games out there that tell such a beautifull and emotionally gripping story. The level design is awesome also. Very unique. The gameplay isn´t very complex but a controller is definitve required! Also the story isn´t very long (it took me about 4-5 hours the first time) but it is so emotionally! You will never forget this unique experience!

micro-review

This short adventure game is more of an atmospheric story which intends to make you feel. The puzzles are very simple but in this context it’s OK. The game requires a controller to play and I got stuck in one puzzle because of the way my Steam controller was set up. By the way, you can even play it co-op on the same machine. Even though I’m not crazy about the story, its implementation, including the visual artwork and the universe in which it takes place, was very good. Rating: No Mr. Bond, I expect you to cry! *Editors' Pick* x1 http://pixelloot.com

Nice but short

pros: + really nice, mutare plot + Great mechanic + Really awecome world (Fable loks like) + idea of playi two characters cons: - short... too short - and beacouse it is short it should cost less I bought game when i had discount so i am really happy after play but if only I bought it for normal price I wouldn't. It should cost 1/2 normal price max. I have to admit i allways thought i like only strategy and rpg but this adventure game is really nice, so 4/5 i think is equal grade.
