Good ideas within a flawed Action game.
I believe the game had a lot of good ideas with its combat. Especially regarding the time powers and use of elemental attacks. The graphics are good for the time and some of it still holds up. Unfortunately, It suffers from a lot of the issues of its time. I won't mention the plot since I think everyone who plays this will go in with the mindset of gameplay being the centerpiece to this game. The moveset works well with how you dash, attack and use different spells. Although, I find myself struggling to close the distance with that dash, oftentimes, you're just shy of attacking your enemy, even after doing a targeted dash towards them. The main issue with the combat stems mainly with the enemy placement and repetition. Repetition of enemies can work depending on how the enemy is fought. However, There are later levels in the game where a boss from an earlier level is fought twice in a row and has to be beaten with the same time-consuming method of performing two specific grabs. Other enemies also serve to consume time by gaining a shield at random. Having enemies with exclusive forms of dispatching do not work well within an action game, especially if they are repeated several times within the same level. Overall, I think this game is only worth buying and playing to satisfy your curiosity. There are other action games that would be more worth your time.
