Blackguards Special Edition

played this in some package, and the idea behind is nice, but for me the plot was not so interesting and all felt like quick, also dialogues, story, but the combat was really slow, dodging both 3 attack. So some things were to slow and others to quick. I don't like say this game is uterly bad or bash, but tbh I felt 3 times asleep while playing this game. Voice was not so nice. options there were enough. Maybe I got spoiled with really good games lately with really good narrative,mechanics and surroundings. I liked gearing and the city concept was also not bad, I want to try if 2 maybe is a little bit different, but I doubt that after what I read. I would say give it a try on a big sale, sometimes you want something more ez going but still with some depth. In the end it didn't catched me enough

Even though this game is based on somewhat interesting PnP RPG system, the execution is just awful. You spend much of the time in dunegons, divided by battle arenas - you only choose where to go between them (there are some forks during this 'exploration' phase). Fights are really boring which is weird since without exploration they should have been fleshed out more. Most of the time you deal low damage to enemies with better hp bars and dmg. There is little tactic beside out DPSing enemies and using some environment objects (most of them are mandatory to ensure battle goes your way). Towns are boring - just some small hubs with vendors, trainers and questgivers. Moving between them is annoying since game loads every time (dunno why, it's not like is so much for game to process in terms of graphics, probably just the case of crappy engine) so every time you want to pop up and get some special talents which can be taught only by trainers - prepare yourself to see many loading screens. Game loves to crash during them. Can't say much about the plot since I barely kept my attention to it - dialogues are so shallow and simplified you feel like you are playing some shit tier korean MMO. If you want better game with tact combat and plot, play Gorky 17. This game is simply not worth anyone's time.

Had a decent time with this one, but some of the fights are unecessarily tough. It whomps to spend a long time on a fight only to have it fall apart on you. After one fight in particular had me die three times because my archer can't keep her feet, I decided to take a break on this one for awhile. Enjoyed the back and forth between the characters, some choices in how you approach dialogues and take on quests, and the cast is of course all "criminals." Also, be ready to not have any money for the first couple of hours. Try buying equipment with nothing.

Characters tend to go on streaks of missing over and over again when you have over an 80% chance of hitting. This persists after reloading the game. Something is wrong with the random seeds here, and it ain't me. Basically unplayable.

I've played many of the previous Darkeye games and, personally, I wasn't that excited. They seem to have a lot of depth and and complexity, but without familiarity to the system, nor time to really sit down and pour over rules, some of that falls a bit flat. I also feel, personally, that the race/class options are perhaps a tad stale in this day and age of RPG systems. With that said, however, THIS game played beautifully. The tactical grid-based systems seems to fit extremely well right into the style of game - I played a few hours of the demo and must say I'm absolutely keen on shelling out for the full game once I've got the funds. The voice acting is decent, the story has a decent start and could be promising as it goes along (the usual you-get-blamed-for-something-you-maybe-didn't-do format). But really, the grid based really is what picks this one up. Real-time games based on obscure systems suffer when players don't really understand the nature of what's going on -with a turn based grid, however, you have time to sit there and really peer over every little detail, to examine your surroundings, to carefully gauge your enemies. The spells and abilities seem relatively limited, but there's a swathe of range for customization it would seem, there doesn't appear to be much restriction on what you can/can't take, merely point cost variation.
