All time classic

I remember this game from back in the day, and those memories are great. So I got it again and after getting it from GOG last week I have been playing non stop! What an awesome game this is. I played it on hard level, but without the bio-chamers to revive I would not have made it. Its realy challenging. The graphics (remastered or not) still are great and the game is fast and plays ever so smoothly. When you add the 20's vibe, the dark atmosphere and the great story teling, plus some nice Billy holiday songs along the way,.. This still is a top notch shooter that will last for many more years.

GOG's credits?

I worked on Bioshock. . .or at least I thought I did until I saw the "Company" section on this page, which fails to mention Irrational Games/2K Boston. I'm assuming that it only lists the studios involved in changing some of the content for the "remastered" version, but it seems like quite an oversight to not list the actual developersk no?

Saving Crashes Game

More than half the time you save the game it will crash. Not only will it crash... it deletes ALL your save files within the save folder. So, the next time you start the game you will not see any of your save files. I looked online for solutions but they don't work, seems like it happens on Steam as well and the solutions are meant for that platform. I really tried to enjoy the game but this bug prevents you from progressing and enjoying it. Get the original (non-remastered). It crashes less, and your save files won't be deleted randomly. Though I should mention that changing the resolution and trying to use a controller will bug out sometimes and it takes a lot of patience and configuration to get those working.

Broken and does not work.

This remaster is basically broken, if you have a 10th Gen Intel CPU. For me, I took a while to play the game, and I was unable to return it to GOG. I can't save games, nor load them, and it has something to do with 10 Gen Intel and at this time there is no patch. However, if you dont have a 10 gen then you will likely be fine, and its a great game. Story and holds up to this day, and what I could play (about 10 min) it was great. But no point playing a game that can not be saved. I wont be purchasing Bioshock 2, not until its a few bucks, just in case that suffers from the same issues.

Choose the Impossible.

I will never forget the first time I descended in to Rapture. The city, A major character as much as it’s inhabitants, was simply fascinating. Like Bill McDonagh had said: “Who can forget their first view of the city? Amazing what a man can create once he gets government and God off his back”. It wasn’t just because of it’s beauty(even almost destroyed, the city was stunning) or it’s creepy atmosphere. It was alive. It had a story to tell. It invite us to enter it, so we could live a journey that would be with us forever. To me, Bioshock is, to this day, the best FPS ever made. It brought an seemly dead “genre” to life(The same from System Shock and Thief), and we probably wouldn’t have games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dishonored or Thief 4 if it wasn’t for this game. It played with the player’s expectative, It gave you powers that you could combine and use for several combos and results. It has a fantastic AI(I will never forget the fist time I saw a hurt Splicer run away from me looking the first med-station available, of a burned Splicer looking for water to stop the fire). It was challenging like few action games dared to be. It was also a eerie game, both in it’s atmosphere and in it’s inhabitants(Splicers pretending to be dead just to jump at you, anyone?). Finally, it had one of the most well written stories ever tell in a game, with tons of memorable characters, specially the unforgettable Andrew Ryan, creator of Rapture, and one of the best and more complex villains I ever faced in a game. It was a game that deserved every single praise it got. It’s a truly masterpiece, and if you haven’t played yet, there are few games I could recommend that much for you. Welcome to Rapture.
