Great game that stood the test of time

Still an amazing game with fun gameplay and an interesting story! Definetly stood thet test of time. I didn't play the remaster tho because I just couldn't get it running, seems to be a common problem. The game has some bugs, the one that happened to me was more little sister appearing than should. I read online If you get more than one extra little sister it might mess with your ending and you get the bad one even tho you saved them. Luckely there is only one area in the game where its highely likely that you get an extra one, In the other ones it seems to occure rarely. Don't know if its still in the remake.

One of the Best

To preface, I've played this through many times across various platforms over the years. I remember playing the demo on Xbox 360 way back when and being immediately pulled in. I've played the remasters, and for the most part those versions are fair tributes to the masterful originals. For me, this is an abject icon of atmosphere, storytelling, and gunplay. One of the true greats in the narrative first-person shooter landscape. It may lack some of the immersive depth and RPG elements of it's spiritual predecessors System Shock I & II, but it streamlines looting and inventory management in a satisfying way. This really allows the player to focus on the flow of combat and the story alike. You may not spread skill points across some stats like in traditional RPG's, though there are both weapon and plasmid upgrades available in different forms. Though there's no shortage of interactivity with your environment. From hacking turrets/bots and vending machines to taking down Big Daddies to photographing splicers to gathering audio logs to cracking safes to.... I could go on and on because I truly love this game. A sincere classic.

Game Just Crashes Every Playthrough

I wasted 5 hours of my life playing this game. It would just crash if I check the map randomly, it would just crash when I try turning the volume up. But the game is so good I continued to try my best to ignore it. Finally, the game crashed mid save and deleted my save file. Losing all my progress. This is most likely a GOG issue and because of this miserable experience I will not be touching another GOG game again.

Classic version doesn't even work

I haven't tried the remastered version yet, only the original. It installed fine, ran on the first launch without issues and I made it to the first level of Rapture where I did a bit of exploring. Saved the game, quit and then tried to continue a few hours later but now the game doesn't even start anymore, it just freezes right at start. (Windows 10) The remastered version may be better (it doesn't sound like it, based on other reviews) but the original is unplayable.

Owned 1&2 a while back on a console

I'm leaving the same review for BioShock 1 & 2. I did not buy the remastered versions because I feel that BioShock 1 & 2 are EXCELLENT experiences to enjoy, and no other game quite nailed the feel that these two masterpieces give the player. That being said, For me anyways- they have very low replayability. They are strongly story driven with very fun gameplay mixed in that does not disappoint. After Playing BioShock 1&2 I did not feel like playing them again because I enjoyed the experience and the story very much and felt like I experienced everything the games had to offer. The games feel very long if you choose to complete everything that's given as a quest or a mission or a goal and I strongly recommend 100% completing the game because it makes it feel more immersive. It's not really the type of game that you feel you need to play more than once because once you know it, You know it. It stays with you and leaves you craving more but also leaves you satisfied. BioShock 1&2 are masterpieces that everyone EVERYONE should play ONCE. If you never played the original versions, get the remastered (I assume it simply looks better?) and ENJOY. This is great. (if it's simply a graphical touch up and nothing more) I don't recommend playing any sequels to the bioshock series after bioshock 1 and 2 because in my opinion they lose their touch and don't feel right. BioShock 1 and 2 are to me, like Mass Effect 1 is to the mass effect series. The sequels simply do not count. The originals are the ONLY TRUE ONES. Thanks to GOG for putting these great games here.
