Fantastic Game

This game is scary. As it should be. Enemies are satisfying to fight: - Good amount, not too many or too little, often show up in a scary way - Just hard enough - Never forced to fight enemies with a weapon you don't like - If you like a weapon, you can almost exclusively use that weapon (might have ammo issues though) - If you don't like certain weapons, you can pretend they don't exist. I personally used only 1 plasmid and 3 of the (~8) weapons consistently. Exploring is rewarding and interesting - you never really feel like you have too much ammo or money. The optional areas always have interesting rewards and contribute IMMENSELY to the scary atmosphere / experience. The story is intriguing and compelling - the story and your character's actions always match up congruently. You rarely even notice you're playing a game, it just feels like YOU ARE IN RAPTURE. At first I didn't like the "pause game to choose your weapon / ammo type" button, but later it was all I was using. It's really satisfying - you get to fully enjoy the horror aspect of the game while still playing the fights out near-perfectly if you want. (To put this into context - BS2 doesn't have this menu. I can't tell you the amount of times I pulled a non-weapon out in the heat of the moment, wasted charges on it, and lost a whole health bar trying to press the right button (1-9) and then manually cycling through ammo types in real time. It just feels terrible when that happens.) Overall - a fantastic experience!

A dreadful and sad atmosphere

(Minor spoiler review - mostly things you will learn very quickly) Bioshock has a dreadful and sad atmosphere set in an underwater city called Rapture, and a highly intriguing plot and world lore. The developers made a really great game here. Most of the characters who's stories you learn about through pre-recorded radio messages scattered around are very memorable and you really feel sorry for the inhabitants of the entire city who were slowly mentally, emotionally and physically destroyed to the point of literal insanity. The world is split up into many different sections of the city, which are each accessed through a submarine (which is a loading screen). These loading areas only pop up at the end of each section of the game, otherwise the way you progress through the game feels very inspired by the Half-Life games but without the platforming aspect of them. I think that every section of the game has it's meaningful place, but It did feel like it was starting to go on for a lot longer then expected. I stopped playing it for a couple of weeks after getting really far into the game and than came back to complete it. Because I plan on replaying this one day, I'm happy that it went for the length that it did because replaying a game tends to go much faster then a first playthrough, and I was taking my time to explore as much as I could so I guess it highly depends on who is playing it when your determining if it's too long or not. Either way, this was a really great game that's a must play if you love highly unique and imaginative worlds. Now, would you kindly go play it.

Bioshock is THE perfect game, on GOG

I've been enjoying playing the remastered Bioshock on my Steam Deck, by using Heroic Games Launcher. It plays absolutely perfectly, no hitches, no issues, no shaders compiling...it just shows how a nice remaster of a solid, solid game can be exactly what you need. There's a reason the story and gameplay of Bioshock is constantly up the top of the greatest games of all times lists, so that has already been covered. I appreciate being able to own the game on GOG, I appreciate it being DRM-free, I appreciate the reasonable price it goes for, and I'm looking forward to playing all three after I finish this one. If you, like me, play it on Heroic on a Steam Deck or similar, make sure to change the Heroic settings for it to have esync and fsync both disabled, so that the smooth detail-less artifacts doesn't occur.

A Man Buys , a slave plays

truly an underrated gem come to gog. so glad but wished i bought it on gog. have a steam copy along with the whole franchise set. can truly say the game truly showing off dx 10.1 at the time of release with the water puddles to the gameplay. playing as jack is truly satisfying from injecting plasmids to hacking turrents. do use your Adam careful. the storylin is thrilled from the begining keeping a level of eerie environments to utmost suspense not knowing when a splicer or big daddy will spring on you. game offers you a strong moral conscience, will you be a saviour or a murderer? System spec wises i ran this on a i7 3770 280x & all settings where ultra presets. you might run in issues with the dx10 settings. dunno how the remastered one works, i ran the prev one before the remastered. a must buy for someone who wants to experience the bioshock franchise, one will definetly not regret it. as andrew ryan says "There's two ways to deal with mystery: uncover it, or eliminate it.” We all make choices, but in the end, our choices make us.
