THE BROTHERHOOD has crafted a homage to adventure games from your childhood. BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION is a 2D isometric adventure set in the distant future. Explore a post-apocalyptic landscape, solve puzzles, meet new friends and make powerful enemies, mediate conflicts and fight for your life as you unravel the secrets of the world around you.
Mark, a man out of time, searches for his lost brother Don, in a far-flung futuristic era ruled by highly advanced technologies which are both revered and reviled. Your surroundings hold echoes of a desolate past, and glimpses of a dark future that has yet to be written by your actions. Be prepared to face many tough choices that will shape this land long after you complete your journey.
The inhabitants of this world will help and hinder you, as you make new discoveries and navigate the spectacular African-inspired landscape. Negotiate your passage with local leaders, healers and warriors, or find yourself embroiled in a battle against nanite swarms, enormous scorpions and rocket-equipped robots.
From thriving villages to crumbling cities, petrified forests and bone-dry ocean beds, this strange new world holds a multitude of terrains to uncover, beautifully rendered in 2D isometric art.

BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION is brought to you by THE BROTHERHOOD, the studio behind STASIS (Adventure game of the year 2015) and CAYNE.
Amazing presentation, stunning cut-scenes
Let down by a somewhat obtuse story & awkward script
I really enjoyed my time here, but would not recommend
Unless you're prepared to use the dev guide from the interwebs
It's an interactive story with pieces of information scattered around, dialogues with choices that don't matter at all. In between, you have extremely boring exploration on a cluttered map using an interface that would be considered outdated in the late 90s.
It is very rare these days, that a game world fascinates me this much. There are so many intriguing, tragic and outright despisable characters in this world.
Sadly, the gameplay feels very outdated, even for the genre. Simple comfort features like interaction highlighting are badly implemented, or outright missing. And on more than one occasion, I ended up completely lost and had to visit every location and speak to every NPC to get the story rolling again.
Besides all those issue, I still think that this is a great game, with a lot of mysteries and some unanswered questions. So I really hope that there will be a sequel that further expands on the world and answers some of the questions that have been left open at the end of the game.
The strength of this game is in the unique and well developed characters that the player encounters. But this game has dozens of outlandish human and non-human individuals sharing strange cultures in a sweeping story about getting back to the player's proper time period.
Game play involved some back tracking but the puzzles and objectives seemed logical and intuitive for me. I never felt like something wasn't fair or poorly implemented. Graphics look good and the game is solid with no issues. For $3 it's a great value.
This is a beautiful game, both the music score and visually, but the tackyness and clunkyness of the controls manages to spoil any trace of submersion.
Also: it was listed as an RPG at several places but it's just a mediacre point and click game.
Keep clear of this glossy package because that's all it is.
