BATTLETECH

I took a one year break from the game. Despite it being in its basic structure a wonderful game, too many functionality problems and poor coding related to headshots, etc. made it not fun at all. When I came back, all of the above were either worse or not fixed. It even came with brand new problems such as loss of xp, and constant freezing when firing.

The game is mostly combat and the combat is not good. You can put all your points into gunnery and the skill that improves aim. . .And you will still miss entirely too often. You will always be out-numbered and the enemies always have hidden buffs -like that is it, that is the difficulty. Being out-numbered by superior adversaries. It's never anything else.. And the combat is slow. And all of the systems in the game penalize the player -injuries don't matter for enemies that aren't going to survive. Repairs don't matter for enemies that aren't going to survive. Its all just bad. Which is too bad because there is some serious promise in some of this, but it just is not enjoyable.

Everything in the game is fine except that the mission are badly balanced. Either there is no opposition or you fight 1 against 4 and die without behing able to fire a bullet.

UI feels a bit odd at start and you feel not at home, but the story picks your interest and then you just keep playing and want to finish it. There are rough things that could have been made smoother, the game sometimes is a bit slow, and becomes a little repetitive, but if you follow the campaign mission its entertaining. I am new to this universe, i've played a ton of W40K daemonhunters, Xcom,PP, Xenonauts and despite my exhaustion on these games, Battletech has its place and a high one. Is it the best game? no , but it is a solid entry and I expect a second one to expand on this interesting universe. You can feel the love this game has been given and the credits are worth watching (that gives an achievement I had always expected some game to give it for watching the credits and unexpectedly this one did!) So yes it is a good game that will give you a ton of hours of fun but if you are into it.

Love the game. Looks and plays as advertised. I have never played the tabletop game so I can not give a comparison.
