BATTLETECH - Season Pass

From original BATTLETECH/MechWarrior creator Jordan Weisman and the developers of the award-winning Shadowrun Returns series comes the next-generation of turn-based tactical 'Mech combat.

The year is 3025 and the galaxy is trapped in a cycle of perpetual war, fought by noble houses with enormous, mechanized combat vehicles called BattleMechs. Take command of your own mercenary outfit of 'Mechs and the MechWarriors that pilot them, struggling to stay afloat as you find yourself drawn into a brutal interstellar civil war. Upgrade your starfaring base of operations, negotiate mercenary contracts with feudal lords, repair and maintain your stable of aging BattleMechs, and execute devastating combat tactics to defeat your enemies on the battlefield.

  • COMMAND A SQUAD OF 'MECHS IN TURN-BASED COMBAT: Deploy over 30 BattleMechs in a wide variety of combinations. Use terrain, positioning, weapon selection and special abilities to outmaneuver and outplay your opponents.

  • MANAGE YOUR MERCENARY COMPANY: Recruit, customize, and develop unique MechWarriors. Improve and customize your dropship. As a Mercenary, travel a wide stretch of space, taking missions and managing your reputation with a variety of noble houses and local factions.

  • TAKE PART IN A DESPERATE CIVIL WAR: Immerse yourself in the story of a violently deposed ruler, waging a brutal war to take back her throne with the support of your ragtag mercenary company.

  • CUSTOMIZE YOUR 'MECHS: Use your MechLab to maintain and upgrade your units, replacing damaged weapon systems with battlefield salvage taken from fallen foes.

  • PVP MULTIPLAYER & SKIRMISH MODE: Customize a Lance of 'Mechs and MechWarriors to go head-to-head with your friends, compete against opponents online, or jump into single-player skirmish mode to test your strategies against the AI.

Please note:
3rd party Paradox account is needed to challenge other players in 1v1 multiplayer matches and to redeem unlock codes for Kickstarter Backer or Pre-Order DLC. Bonus decorations and emblems require online connection in order to be appliable.

Tabletop Mayhem

Battletech is tabletop mayhem come to electric life. Everything about this game is an homage to the original game of cardboard and dice. It is challenging, fun and gorgeous. The single player campaign, of which I've only been through a few missions, is a glorious panic of building up from disaster through violence and salvage. This is a remarkable game and already deserves a place of respectful regard in the pantheon of Battletech and Mechwarrior games.

Awesome MechWarrior game

My experience with this series lies with playing MechWarrior 2 waaay back in the day, but this game is a fantastic strategy/tactical game featuring the baddass mechs I played back in my childhood. Great graphics, great tactical options, and the mech on mech combat is great. There's alot to sink your teeth into here, like evasion, meele, heat, positioning, etc etc. Unsure of all the hate this game is getting on Steam and here on GoG, as I think 3 stars is nowhere near accurate if you enjoy strategy/tactical games.

Great Game for Battletech-Fans

I like to play this game, till now (26h in Game) i had only one little bug where an allied vehicle wasn't moving right. I can't understand all these negativ comments, i have no problems with gpu etc. no lags, less bugs than most AAA-Games and a great story. I think, it is great export of the tabletop game but is not the same. The rules are different, some Mechs where different too but these are minor chanches that are necessary to make it a good game.

Pros outweighed by cons

I don't review many games but I thought I'd leave one for BattleTech. I'm thoroughly enjoying the game so far and have no issues with the gameplay mechanics; they may seem a little clunky to begin with but they're intuitive after a couple of missions. Combat is highly satisfying whilst being challenging but not impossible. Although non-storyline missions are repeated in terms of their objectives, there is enough variablility in opponents, terrain, structures and biomes to keep them interesting (so far). They storyline itself is great and I found myself emotionally invested from the offset. The company management, spaceship improvements, random events and travel are quite nice but I feel that something could be done to make this more interesting. Mech customisation is great as it is. In terms of performance... Well, I have a low end machine (FX-6300, 760 GT, 8GB RAM) that just exceeds the minimum recommended specs. I run the game ok with the lowest graphics settings; there is some chugging in combat - particularly in larger storyline missions - and I found that disabling the additional camera modes (that follow mechs during movement, jumping, etc) helped somewhat. The graphics aren't great on lowest settings but they are passable. I wonder whether HBS might have been able to have separate graphics settings for the two aspects of the game; one for the battles and one for company management etc. The music and sound effects add to game's atmosphere. I don't have a problem with the voice acting at all although the one-liners spouted by mech warriors are oft repeated. However, some of the one liners do make me chuckle! Overall I'd recommend the game but I do look forward to optimisation patches and perhaps improvements/expansion of the company management aspect of the game.

Viva la Battletech

I was really surprised to see so many negative reviews on here. I just geeked out on this game for the last two days, and it takes a really good game to draw me in like that. Ok, I get why some people (especially here on GOG) are upset about the DRM. That doesn't bother me though. It's also very minor, in my eyes (you need to create a paradox account to play online or to get the bonus skins). Once you make it past the tutorial levels (which you cant skip on subsequent play-throughs), the game opens up. You can customize your loadouts, refit your mechs, train your mechwarriors, buy/sell components, build new mechs out of parts. The combat is very table-top to me, and im very good with that! Facing matters. Is your right-side damaged? Well, make sure you face the enemy with your left-side. Heat management is very important. Energy weapons consume more heat. Putting your mech in the water cools them off. Each turn has phases with the units having more initiative allowed to go first, along with the option to reserve your units into different phases. I dont know, I'm having a lot of fun with it currently. I dont see that stopping anytime soon. certainly worth the 35 dollars!
