BATTLETECH - Season Pass

From original BATTLETECH/MechWarrior creator Jordan Weisman and the developers of the award-winning Shadowrun Returns series comes the next-generation of turn-based tactical 'Mech combat.

The year is 3025 and the galaxy is trapped in a cycle of perpetual war, fought by noble houses with enormous, mechanized combat vehicles called BattleMechs. Take command of your own mercenary outfit of 'Mechs and the MechWarriors that pilot them, struggling to stay afloat as you find yourself drawn into a brutal interstellar civil war. Upgrade your starfaring base of operations, negotiate mercenary contracts with feudal lords, repair and maintain your stable of aging BattleMechs, and execute devastating combat tactics to defeat your enemies on the battlefield.

  • COMMAND A SQUAD OF 'MECHS IN TURN-BASED COMBAT: Deploy over 30 BattleMechs in a wide variety of combinations. Use terrain, positioning, weapon selection and special abilities to outmaneuver and outplay your opponents.

  • MANAGE YOUR MERCENARY COMPANY: Recruit, customize, and develop unique MechWarriors. Improve and customize your dropship. As a Mercenary, travel a wide stretch of space, taking missions and managing your reputation with a variety of noble houses and local factions.

  • TAKE PART IN A DESPERATE CIVIL WAR: Immerse yourself in the story of a violently deposed ruler, waging a brutal war to take back her throne with the support of your ragtag mercenary company.

  • CUSTOMIZE YOUR 'MECHS: Use your MechLab to maintain and upgrade your units, replacing damaged weapon systems with battlefield salvage taken from fallen foes.

  • PVP MULTIPLAYER & SKIRMISH MODE: Customize a Lance of 'Mechs and MechWarriors to go head-to-head with your friends, compete against opponents online, or jump into single-player skirmish mode to test your strategies against the AI.

Please note:
3rd party Paradox account is needed to challenge other players in 1v1 multiplayer matches and to redeem unlock codes for Kickstarter Backer or Pre-Order DLC. Bonus decorations and emblems require online connection in order to be appliable.

Some good and some bad...

The game itself is kinda solid but it has a bunch of the typical flaws in this type of game, here are a couple of examples: * Escort missions where the escorted targets get destroyed on the first attack from so long range its darn near impossible to defend from unless you have a zillion mechs running at long ranges from the convoys so you get the attackers scooped before they are in LRM range. * Convoy attack missions where the targets your suppose to attack move so fast a typical mid mech barely keeps up at sprint speed (IE cant attack) and arer strong enought that the light fast mechs don't pack enough firepower to destroy them. Beside thoose kind of flaws the game is a turnbased version of mech warrior merchenaries with more current gfx.

Skyrim for Mechwarrior Fans

Holy crap, this game. So fun, so deep, so addicting. Incredible when played as an ironman, though that isn't required. Perhaps even more importantly, they've added a ton of value to the IP as a whole. Never before has this universe been so tangible and fully realized. I've played every PC game in the series, and they were awesome, but the big picture of how the game universe works always felt very vague. This game opens it all up to you and makes it real. I will be playing this for ages. Only complaint so far? Need to be able to rename pilots. :D It's always fun to name them after your friends and then tell them (your friends) the stories of how their digital counterparts died.

This is Spar... err.. Battletech!

This is an incredible Battletech game on the same level as Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries. It faithfully adopts the rules and gives them a much needed facelift into the 21st century. The story is perfectly executed and the cut scenes are beyond gorgeous. The game becomes pretty challenging in the later parts and especially the 3.5+ star random missions can get really tough if you get a bad drop location between the enemy lances and upgrading/replacing your mechs is very important. It also manages to have a meaningful economy until the very end. It's very rare to be more than 2 months away from bankruptcy and every internal damage and wounded mechwarrior hurts you in the long run. ALOT. Technically I had only minor issues. I had two post game crashes that forced me to replay the mission but the rest of my 50+ playtime were bugfree and I hope that this issue gets patched out ASAP. The game itself looked good although the textures can become muddy extremely close up and I could run it on maximum details although I only have a rather modest rig. The only real annoyance was the small delay between "events" on the field like receiving crits and then getting a 1-second delay before the part gets blown off. Overall it was a joy to play and I can easily give it 5 stars (but as I said: I didn't run into any major technical issues).

My favorite Battletech game

Simply put it's everything that I wanted it to be. Great look and feel, and much more tactically deep than I was expecting. As someone who's been a fan of Battletech since the FASA days, and still has the box set, I think it's a great interpretation of the game.

An amazing rendition of Battletech.

This. Is. Awesome! BLUF: Think XCOM / XCOM 2 vs FPS or RPG. I played Battletech back in the late '80's - early/mid-90's as the original rulebook and minatures game. This game is FINALLY one that feels like it was lifted straight out of the rule books and maps and into the computer. Mechwarrior was a cool FPS shooter version of Battletech and Mech Assault was... well, video gamed Mechawarrior, but none of that really captured BATTLETECH. Until now. It's not a suprirse really because the brains behind Hairbrained Schemes wrote the original books for the game back when FASA owned it. The customization in the MechBay brings back all the spreadsheets and graphs I would pour through trying to come up with ways to customize mechs. Since the game is set before the Grey Death Legion finds the Star League cache and the later Clan Invasion, customization is a series of hard choices in some cases. Which is good. I played the Beta at Gencon as well as the Backer Beta skirmish mode on Steam -- the final game is soooo much better than what playing those versions gave the impression of.
