Lower Level, Larger Scale.
Still at the lower levels from the original Baldur's Gate, the game highlights a more strategical approach to things than simply powering through encounters with "the appropriate magical items", sometimes, you will not have the appropriate spells, or enough of them. The only complaint I have about the game overall, would be that knowing where things would end up eventually led me to understand much of what was happening when it would have been much more immersive if I lacked that foreknowledge. On the gameplay front, there are many more encounters that pushed me, compared to the original. Since magical items are not nearly in as much supply as BG2, spells, and proper party layout is key, which led to many fun encounters. There is a section involving a siege, where things really became interesting, and the sheer number of enemies available on screen at one time really becomes easily noticeable, as you have to be careful not to drop fireballs on too many of your friends. (Unless you're Chaotic, in which case, more fun for everyone!) The storyline is simple, workable, and quite enjoyable, would highly recommend to anyone who enjoyed the rest of the series, which, given the series involved is some of the highest praise I can think of.
