The last and best of classic RPGs

One of the very few must-play games worth every minute spent. The story is incredible (I always looked at Avatar movie as a weak ripoff of Albion story) with unexpectedly believable harmony of sci-fi and medieval world. This game really added value to my life as very few games were able to. The pixel-art is TOP level if you don't include the 3D parts which are the only cons compared to any other game in history. Don't hesitate and definitely grab it. This is more worthy of your time than 95% games you've ever played.

My beloved game!!!

Oh what a lovely day. I still remember the day i bought the Albion game box back in 1996, one year after release. It was my first RPG game on PC (until that point i was playing Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore and a bunch of other J-RPGs on Snes). From the first day i played Albion, its breathing world fascinates me until today. The amount of background informations you can get about the common universe, especially the Iskai, an cat-like alien-culture is enorm and while i was playing - my brain created a whole universe on its own, how they might live together, how they would look in real life. It's an Avatar'esqe world, the dark dungeons where i got a shock everytime when the Skrinns, Velociraptor like creatures attacked me from behind. It's a big game, get it, don't play it like an old game, play it like watching an epic movie. (I even caught myself doing the voices for all of the characters of the game) Best regards, another game dev who still loves your game and would raise hand to help developing a reboot of it, maintaining its magic, exploring more of this mystic world.

Best RPG ever made

The 3D parts can be ugly, but in terms of worldbuilding, plot and story presentation, this game has no equal. 2D looks nice even today, and the tactical combat is lots of fun.

Most unique & immersive RPG

It is old. It has flaws. It lacks instant gratification and many quality-of-life features of "modern" RPGs. But I think there is one thing that sets this game apart from any modern AAA-RPGs released over the last two decades: the people who made this game poured their heart and soul into it to create a unique, meaningful, fun and lasting experience for the players. It was not designed with profit maximization in mind. None of it's parts are very special, by today's standards at least. Graphics are indeed retro at best, especially the 3D parts (exploration is mostly 2D, dungeons are 3D). Character development is superficial apart from stats-boosts gained at level up and combat ability points earned via trainers in exchange for money. Music and sound effects lack the bombast of the genre's modern contemporaries, and the combat is very standard round-based RPG stuff. Suprisingly, combined they make for the most beautiful, well-sounding, unique and immersive RPG experience I ever had the pleasure to play through. The premise: You are a shuttle pilot on board of a colossal spaceship sent to a remote, unexplored world by a megacorp in order to strip said world of its resources. Upon getting near your destination you and a scientist are sent ahead to scout the situation on-site. Something goes wrong, and... the plot that unfolds is hundred times deeper than modern standard cookie-cutter RPG garbage. It is mostly not predictable, unique and full of surprises. To this day I re-play Albion every year for 17 years straight. Need I say more? It's a true gem. With any kind of marketing or adivertisement (which it lacked completly) it would have been an all-time classic.
