The title says it all. Graphics are very old. But if you can live with that you get rewarded with charming characters, good story and "quests" and awesome fights.
I was playing this game as a child with pretty much no knowledge of English. Luckily enough, it was translated to my native language (Czech). Still I was unable to progress to the end of the game, since I got stuck at one place and didn't know how to progress further. The game remained on my mind, even 25 years later I kept thinking about it and it still bothered me that I never finished it. I took it as a challenge and started playing again recently. In many aspects it was as good as I remembered it - great story, interesting characters, magic, alien creatures and athmosphere of seemingly huge world.
Dungeons were usually very catchy and I like that even though there are some puzzles, they are not extremely difficult. Fighting is rather easy, if you get the concept under your skin. I really like the creative part - your companions have their own story and personality. The story really lures you in and you become part of the journey with all your party.
Of course, not everything is perfect which is understanable for a game from 1996. There is a lot of repetitive tasks/actions that you need to do to: earn money, get better equipment, get higher level, get better stats, get from a place to another place, etc. So if you are striving for a "perfection" in this game, you will spend hours just doing something not so pleasant. Also inventory management could be painful experience (gold is much heavier than valuables). The story could be difficult to navigate - often times you're not sure what you should do next. And I could probably continue.. :)
But despite all of these shortcomings, I still really enjoyed the game and I'm very happy that I've finished it. I'm sure that if they remastered it with better resolution, graphics, audio and some "quality of life" features, this could be a masterpiece that it deserves to be :)
Shame there's no Albion2! Would love to play it. :)
stunning pixel graphic and indepth story, VERY LONG game if you wish to deepen into all its details (there are some crazy "secret" that can be accessed only at specific times in specific places). Full of hidden small secret (such as the dungeon at the very start of the game, if you manage to figure it all out...! ehheeh) and little-puzzles.
Combats are always super engaging...!
It says 45hr of game....I would say at least the double.
The storyline is amazing and exploration and levelling up is NEVER frustrating.
The whole ambience of the game really puts in into an unkown world altogether.
amongst the best games ever made and to me, by far, the best RPG. I challange you to finish it ;)
Released initially 20 years ago, this is now available for the the first time in ages. The action switches between a top down view and a 3D first person view, this is initially confusing and the art styles to tend to jar but stick with it because it is really great.
The story follows a crashed space ship and a man who is having strange dreams. I don't want to say more as the story is really great. Go on buy it, it's cheap.
I've started to play the game through if you want to see it before buying it:

The eye for detail in this game is absolutely astounding. The world is super detailed, sound is great, gameplay never gets dull even if you do get 'breaks' for exploration.....it just works. I love this game dearly. I'm not the most fanatical dungeon crawler player so take this with a pinch of salt (i.e. ignore my ignorance of what is probably a slew of games this game is based on!) but everything that came after is trying to emulate what Albion is, at least when it comes to world building. Again, I'm probably way off the mark but that's how "...whoa" this game was for me personally!
Highly recommended.
