My first RPG

I was seven years old playing this game. It was the first RPG I realy feel and understand. Over the years my wish was great to have it back. Yeah, I know, you could do some dosboxes or something like that, but a few of these boxes didn't worked for me, so I have to wait :( BUT NOW it happends an one of my eternal wishes comes true and gog put this masterpiece of a german game developer back to us! The Game is realy worth its money and tells a good story. Mixed with some good dungeon crawling and a nice figthing system. Also you have different types of weapons and spells, which gaves you a good mix of your characters. The 2d sprites looks look nowadays, but it could come from my fanblended eyes ;) But let me tell you one thing: This masterpiece is worth its money - clearly!

Original storyworld!

I had this on CD at the time - it's extremely good up till the end, where the battles become a bit of a slog and can only be won by mass-blinding everything on the grid. It has its own, well-realised story world (which was rare then and still is), good combat mechanics and balance, and a good UI. The overall plot is basically Pocahontas (also from 1995) or Avatar. Good map and dungeon design. Good puzzles. Good writing. I can't decide if it will have aged well (I'm about to find out!) but if you like the Wizardry games, Entomorph or Death Gate this will be up your street.

Masterpiece. A great RPG for it's time.

The story is pretty cool and so is the battle system. I bought the CD version New In Box and now that CD is worth over $300+, but I gave it away many years ago. I can only buy it here again. It is that good of a game. The game art and style and world is colorful and fantastic. I would like to see a sequel because not many games today even approach the depth of this game.

Still one of the best RPGs

This was my big brother's game when I was growing up, and we struggled with keeping track of the details of quests (though I believe this was before a reasonably robust quest log feature was common) but absolutely loved the story and gameplay. We're pretty certain Cameron played this, conveniently forgot that he did, and then decided that the plot was his own idea so that he could make Avatar. There's not a whole lot in the latter that isn't in this.

90 RPG/Dungeoncrawler mix

Albion has a lot of good things going for it: For example, graphics looked awesome for the time, you can evade combat encounters, music is very good, controls are simple but work, gadgets improve navigation, resting system allows for magic use to not be tedious. On the flaws or shortcomings, it is very linear story wise, it has one good plot twist in the first part of story but the intensity of that reveal is never recovered in later parts. You can solve parts of the game the wrong way or the right way but this has very limited effect of the rest of the game. So many times story points are resolved and dont matter anymore. Leveling up doesnt allow for different paths limiting further replays. Now i have to admit i have beaten the game several times over the years but i come back to it because of nostalgia and i dont know if i hadnt played in my childhood if i would like it so much.
