Saved From Oblivion

I used to take some amount of pride in having once successfully installed this game under Windows 7 as it was a lengthy, incredibly complicated, multi-stage process with no guarantee of complete success (e.g., sometimes the soundtrack wouldn’t load properly). Now I never have to worry about going through that ridiculous hassle ever again! After a quick and super-easy installation, the game ran perfectly under Windows 10 and is a joy to play once more, just as it was originally intended. Thanks, GOG!

One of the BEST RTS of 2000

I'm extremelly happy to see this game on GOG. Finally, a classic RTS returns. I played and finished all 3 single player campaigns then and I'm looking forward to do it again! It's the 23rd century and 3 CorpoNations are racing to aquire items of vastly superior technology from an extinct alien race. 3 brothers have a quarrel and each one ends up in a different CorpoNation to fight for the alien pieces. That's the story behind the game, it's very good and it has a huge plot twist in the end. The more missions you play, the more you will learn about each CorpoNation and the more you will connect to each of the 3 brothers. The game is one of the first full 3D, and also features combat in 3 layers, each with unique capabilities and setbacks. (the orbital level is my favourite) The Combots are fantastic, customizable, detailed and have smooth moves. You can make countless combinations and approach each battle differently. Be careful when to choose power parts and when to choose solid-metal parts. I like one small detail in Combot building: The more firepower they have, the less armour they have- it's a nice balancing feature. You can make defence Combots or full-attack Combots. There is a big exception here with the alien parts, which are super-powerful with super-armour and they have regeneration. So if you come across one of them in the field do your best to acquire and research it!!! Crews are also very important in Combot's power and health, so keep your good crews alive because they carry over to next missions. The rest of the vehicles are secondary in battle and only usefull underground. I still prefer to fire teutonic torpedoes and deal with large groups underground, than to hunt every last one of them. Graphics are from 2000, so don't expect much compared to modern games. They were great then, they still get the job done today. I also liked the voice-overs especially the robotized assistant. In conclusion, this is a MUST-PLAY game if you're a fan of RTS.

The Return of the King (of RTS)

I can't say enough to feverishly glow about this game. While undoubtably held up by my childhood nostalgia, it's got some really great pieces that bring insane fun. Fighting around with giant mechs is just too much fund, and while there are tons of balance issues and unrealized ideas, the distinct smell of potential in the game is enrapturing. From the three arenas in each map to fight across, to the satisfaction of being able to steal and make other combot elements in your own base- ah its just too much fun. For a few bucks, you can't go wrong if you can look past the dated controls and visuals. 10/10 would recommend!

Flawed, but amazing game!

This is an objectively bad strategy game. Early 3D graphics, absolute trash of an AI, balance is all over the place... BUT, I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Has some of the best ideas in an RTS to date. So much charm, innovation, fun. I've had hours of fun in multiplayer (back in the day), and the campaign is pretty good to play too. Only after you get how the unit AI behaves. I enjoy it as much today as I did in the past.

So happy this game was brought here.

I can remember playing the demo to this when I was like 8 years old. The game was AWESOME! Now I get the chance to play through all of it! I can't express how fluid the gameplay is, the ComBot combat system is entertaining to witness and see just how each individual part affects everything! The smaller sized units can be fun to zerg rush with and see the chaos ensue! Trust me if you're a fan of RTS games, this one is for you.
