I hope someone makes a mod to re-apply the textures, because this is seriously not cool.

The developers just dropped to a new low :(

yeah I'm from Turkey but I'm not a muslim, yet i do understand what ppl can think about this situation. it's called paying attention.

I don't think it would have been a big deal, but it's in a brothel for one and their vision wasn't to have religious themed stuff in the game (besides pagan symbols) lol

I agree that a certain culture tends to react differently to such issues. However, I don't think that is what is at work here on CDPr's part. They have stated design goals in mind.

Well, I have not heard anything or read anything about any Muslim or Muslim organization complaining about it, and this type of thing is normally picked really quick by the 24x7 media.

It could've been simply a CDP employee pointing it out, or even maybe a nice letter to the devs asking politely to please replace the texture from the brothel which, in the great scheme of themes, means absolutely nothing to the game..

Speaking of how different cultures react to different things, apparently it works both ways, with people crying "CENSORSHIP" because a freaking texture - which probably they haven't even stopped and contemplated for any meaningful time - is replaced, and other stereotyping Muslims as "cave dwellers".

All in all, it is a freaking texture. Replacing the texture doesn't take absolutely anything from the gaming experience.

The texture resembles an Islamic prayer rug, I can see why the developers would remove it, especially from a brothel. No harm in that. Good on the developers to do it themselves.

prayer rug inside a brothel. kind of a political statement about islam prostituting itself to the west by sacrificing muslim practices and adopting judeo-christian values in order to assimilate. or perhaps an indictment on muslims or religious fundamentalists in general who pretend to be holy but at the end of the day would rather dwell in the company of odalisks.
