And I was afraid you were talking about Christine...
~chuckles ~ guy commentary is hilarious...

evilnancyreagan: over here?

I can't help but look. It's like some awful car wreck but instead normal autos, it's a huge pile up of clown cars.

It's a spectacle. A terrible, terrible spectacle. I want to believe that one person made all those accounts and posted each one of those comments. That is the sad universe I choose to subscribe to.
I am extremely disappointed. I was really hoping that link was to a picture or video of a clown car pileup.

VERY disappointed.

F4LL0UT: The thought that this game could come here while we're still waiting for the likes of Command & Conquer, System Shock, Doom etc. really scares the crap out of me. But then again, it would be quite hilarious if an army of misinformed fools made GOG revive dead MMOs. The irony of that scenario...

evilnancyreagan: See?! This--this is why we can't have nice things.
avatar
F4LL0UT: Reason?
They've got Myst: Uru, which is also available as an MMO afaik.

So this is insane, but it's happened before.

While you can create shards (game servers) for MO:UL, I believe the login server is still closed-source and run solely by Cyan (and if they take that down, the game's down as accounts are gone and no one can log in, unlike fully distributed systems). Also, Myst Online: Uru Live is a completely separate product from Uru: Ages Beyond Myst with expansion packs, even if they are essentially single- and multiplayer versions of the same game and (if I remember correctly) the MMO was originally supposed to be an add-on to the singleplayer game.

It's dead only through the original game. MO:UL went down for a while but has risen again, with a separate client.

So I finally caved in a did a google search of this game. I found a video of it... well I'll let it speak for itself. Check out 5:37-5:49:

WTF Disney! :)))))

Considering in my head I "hear" all the comments from the wishlist as coming from kids, that's not a very appropriate game... :P

Man...you guys are seriously butt hurt on here!!! I mean, what the hell is your problem, anyway?

Not that it matters to any of you, but POTCO was enjoyed by kids, tweens, teens, and ADULTS alike (from 2007-2013). As someone whom has never considered myself the atypical "gamer," POTCO drew my interest in during the moment in time when interest was high towards the onset of the POTC films. How inconsiderate of all of you to simply dismiss a game which you simply know_NOTHING about!

So...you could care less if POTCO makes headway here on Gog.com. Tell you what, I could care less what you thought as your opinions won't impact the player-base of POTCO which exists still to this day, all because the impact the game had on people across the world.

As you sit there, jeering/laughing at players who decided to further make an effort to promote the revival of POTCO, know this: the loyalty and love people do have for the game is **genuine** If you don't believe me, review this thread that I am including below (which explains the FULL EXTENT players and fans alike have gone to convince Disney/Disney Interactive to revive POTCO).

https://piratesforums.co/threads/revive-potco-revisited-tales-be-told.9167/

Although the effort failed, that's not really the point now...IS IT? Then again, I am speaking to a bunch of POTCO "haters" whom would rather judge than find out for themselves why the game touched the lives of thousands.

(Shakes head) It's a shame; it's shame really to have so high opinions of something when you are so_uninformed!

Oh, btw...thanks for making us ALL feel so warm and tingly here. *We appreciate the "welcome" (pfffttttt)!

To be fair the signal to noise ratio here is so terrible already you aren't actually impacting it, but it's still funny.

It matters not. I spoke my mind openly and honestly (as I represent no other entity here but the feelings of my own self). Members here can either take it or leave it (ultimately, it matters not to me).

ShamusTheBrute: Words...
GOG sells single player games and single player games that also have multiplayer. Pirates of the Caribbean Online is stricly an MMO. GOG does not sell MMOs.

I'm glad you and countless others had fun with the game, but that won't change the fact that it's an MMO, something GOG has never sold and likely will not ever sell.

Nobody is "hating" on Pirates of the Caribbean Online. However the push to get the game remade by and onto GOG is extremely odd. It's the equivalent of demanding Danzig's deleted industrial album Blackacidevil be remastered and sold by a J-pop label like Hello! Project. Is there a .1% chance that it could happen? Sure. Would I get laughed off of both Danzig and Hello! Project's fan forums if I brought up the idea there? More than likely. Is it even within the realm of believability that Hello! Project would remaster and sell Blackacidevil by Danzig? Not at all.

I'll add that if GOG were to ever release a MMO, it would likely be a Witcher MMO, as CD Projekt Red (GOG's owner/sister company) is the developer of the Witcher games, and I would imagine the Witcher games are a far bigger cash cow than Pirates of the Caribbean Online in 2015 and onward.

Again, I'm glad you and many others enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean Online, however I see a zero percent chance of your goals being reached here. Best of luck to all of you in the future in that endeavor and in the mean time why not stick around and actually find out what GOG is actually about? Despite the overall silliness of this thread, if you take five minutes and open your eyes and mind you'll see that this is one of the best gaming communities online.
