A. that's not how GoG works
B. TLOPO
The clue is really in the title "Online" = No.
It's been awhile since I've visited this forum and I still say that this community is thriving despite POTCO being down. i've said it once and I'll say it as many times as it takes. This is a unique game that if they added more story to it, would've survive. Again this is my opinion. THe closest thing to POTCO I've found is SWTOR and even that can't compare to this game.
bring this game back... the community is still here and we're dying to play this game again... this game was my childhood and i would pay to play it again
@Sachys - While this recent DMCA exemption is obviously good news for some gamers, the exemption itself unfortunately does not apply to MMORPG platform games. For more information, please review page 55 of the below source:

I don't know how accurate this report is (you will have to research) but perhaps it might be some hope for you all: www.engadget.com/2015/10/27/abandonware-dmca-exemption
IF the sailin' and crewin' be not right, pirate thieves might as well be ordinary and law-abiding citizens :) www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNY8PrRxEtg
POTCO game (arguably 'the best' sailing, privateering, crewing, and community-based MMO around): www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRf1uXix9rE
Blackwake game: www.youtube.com/watch?v=51kQ5-7snE4
Much like the comment @twiggy39 had left below, POTCO had a tremendous impact on myself as an adult! *You know, I've said it once and I will say it again (even to the point by 'living' by these words), remaining a PIRATE of the Caribbean Online is "timeless" and as such an experience which encompasses this type of (character) role-play breaks demographic barriers which very few other games can be credited in accomplishing. So Disney, take note!
I am now 39yrs old and have not found a game that fills the void. I have not played an online game since except for a short time on World of War Craft, which still did not grab my heart the way POTCO did. Want it back sooooo badly and now my kids would love to start. My favorite part was the weapons handling and the sword swishing combos as funny as that is( oh and the clothes were awesome especially when you discovered a new island shop with the lastest fashions). This vote count may show 1,316 but i know that there are thousands more that want this game back.
This was a great game i played it all the time as a child and im sad to see that it was shut down. As others have said a great part of this was interacting with people on the water and making friends which was diffirent and unique from all other games.
i know that not all votes not all know this site but see (About 11.1 million of results (the number of seconds: 0.46)) this number that people search this game
please bring it back please it's best game please back
Bring POTCO back please! We all loved the game even with all its foibles! We loved it because it was simple to play. We loved it because we had Developers who joined us in role play (such a laugh!). We loved it because it was good value for money. We loved Captain Walter, Xavier Hench and The Black Guard. We loved the sailing. But most of all we loved the people and friends we met along the way. Bring back POTCO!
But POTCO was the best game ever
And either make membership free or cheaper than it was before
It would suck though if they changed everything. Just keep everything the same and everyone would be happy
This was the hypest game ever!!! i dont even know why they cancelled it in the first place
i use to play this game all the time before it got canceled
I wasn't much of a gamer, I'm still not, but I really loved playing this game. I really hope we can get it to come back.
To everyone saying i was cheating i meant for 5 minutes back in the game i would repeatedly watch captain bo beck get killed in the tutorial i used the word spam because it popped into my head but i am no cheater.
I want the game to come back so bad, i played it for 8 years and now all i can think about is playing it again.
I suggest Disney do a "throw back" summer and reopen POTCO for a few months and see how many players come back.
Great game, deserves to be played.
I used to love this game so much and was crushed to see it be deleted. Being a kid this was my favorite game and i love all of it
TLOPO (the legends of pirates online) is the name of the best chance we have to be able to play potco...go check them out!
When is it opening again i want to play it again :(
its was a really nice game, I played it with my friend and thought it was fun and the ship mechanics where cool, I then wanted to play it with my brother who is a huge Pirates of the carribean fan but sadly it was deleted
Just for any confusion, POR and TLOPO ( The Legend of Pirates Online) have collaborated.
Ive been searching around the internet and ive had no luck to whether or not the rewritten game is coming or it was cancelled. It kind of saddened me that I might not be coming once again! Can someone tell me if it is coming back, I would greatly appreciate it. XD
Even if POTCO isn't brought back on this site, overall I think it might be able to be brought back via the newest project that came out (which is NOT POR, it's a different one). They seem to be doing pretty good already.
I loved this game so much, I truly do hope that it can be brought back online to play.
This was and still would be my favorite game. There were so many fun adventures that I have and haven't finished.
As a child this was one of my favorite games. Its sad to see it gone, and I do hope that GOG will bring this back.
I've always loved this game! One day I was trying to log in, but it wouldn't let me.. I thought it was weird...and now I know why. Why was this ever deleted??? It was amazing!!! One of the best games I've ever played!
Still hoping Disney will bring back this game or a revamped version of it when the next POTC movie comes out in the next 2 years.
i never worried about some one hacking my infor i went and got a card from the store that had the money on it to pay for the game . that way nothing to get lol
please please bring back potoc please i started playing just as soon as it was showed on tthe tv about the game i seen it and i went and down loaded the game right away so i played it for as long as it was on line yes i paid for it and even had 3 accounts paid and i would pay for it again. sence it closed ive looked for other games but nothing was like pirates not even one pirates was a game you wantted to play every one made friends on there close friends that looked forward to seeing come on to play in other words ppl on there became family no other game is like that on pirates it wasnt just a game it was a family i miss pirates so so much and yes i would pay for it just let me know when the date is and im there
please bring this back !!! please!!
nothing online like it, and the way it looks there never will be.
i didn't cheat. I didn't know how!. i chased cheats for most of my svs career. Joined the "Scurvy" my last year . Everyone said Molly cheated but i never saw her cheat once , and i'll bet all my money that if she wasn't the best at sailing she was in the top 3. Many a toons owe her thanks for their ship upgrades and i never once saw her use the edge to get the hunters . i understand that the hacks ruined it and i would keelhaul any of them if i had a chance. Pirates of the Carribean is 48 years old. Walt says anything is possible at Disneyland . Too bad Seth Davis and his crew haven't figured that out. Give it to the Imagineers. They can fix it !!!!! They fix everything!!!!
@Cannonhawk - There remain two issues I do have "against" POTCO hacking/modding:
1.) It was unethical and immature
2.) It was NEVER an intention of mine to spend my hard, earned $money$ on a game where the "fate" of the experience was determined upon how a particular hacker/modder was feeling that particular day.
- Regardless of Disney's position towards POTCO, it became my decision to pay them for the experience (despite the quality assurance problems). Instead, what I received was a bunch of immature adults, teens, and kids essentially taking my hard earned $money$ and using it against ME!
Aloha Sir . I didn't .... i didn't have to . And the ones u speak of do miss it . I got proof of most of what u are speakin mates .but i never turned it in , i had FUN ,F__King FUN !!!! if they "FIXED" it who knows if it would have been as good . It was one of the greatest times in my life, and i can declare i''ve had a pretty good one .Shamus is right , Good to see u Sir !!!!!! Seen Betty !
@sirflying - Truly, I understand your frustration (as SVS was my most 'favorite' thing to do while playing POTCO and it_was absolutely exploited).
- The issue of hacking/modding POTCO was two-fold, in my opinion. For one thing, Disney Interactive had both the power and the authority at their disposal to do something about the issue before it got out-of-hand (yet, they did nothing). ***Regardless, it was POTCO players themselves whom are to blame (solely for taking advantage of a situation in which they 'choose' to exploit)!
Know this; the very fact players were not forced to have hacked/mod POTCO (nobody was held at BLUNDERBUSS point in real for them to have gained a competitive advantage over other players/disrupt the in-game experience of other pirates) . Sadly, such individuals did bring the legacy of POTCO down to a level which cheapened (overall) the original intention on how the game was meant to have been played.
- Today, the challenge for us as a community is to come to terms with WHY (behind the reasoning as to 'why') certain things were done purposefully to damage the experience of playing POTCO.
*The BEST* way this can be achieved if those individuals whom had hacked POTCO is for them to hold themselves personally accountable and openly apologize to the community expressing some sense of remorse. Likely then, cocoon feelings of resentment would "butterfly" into feelings of forgiveness, savvy?
I see Matthew, Peter and Molly and assorted former BSI lamenting the shutting down of the game and remember them laughing and refusing to change their ways which used assorted cheats.. I never found out who the last bunch was with their invisible ships, machine gun cannons and the ability to sink other players outside of SVS were.. But I am hoping they finally get it too.. They got the game shut down for everybody. Hoping they are miserable.
