tinyE: OT but screw related. :P

Anyone else hear the thing today about EA possibly charging for gas in future NFS games?

Soccorro: What!!??
I'm not making it up. However I got the story from Yahoo.com so maybe someone else is making it up.

What's wrong with making a realistic game? Maybe they will start selling prepaid gas cards in convenience stores. o_O

maybe they should change it in to need for speed nothing but limits

or need for speed : limitless wallets

...what a shit load of fuck
trust Ea to do this and off course people will buy it

Strijkbout: Might be worth considering, if you can mobilze and convince the community of PotCO, but why not buy the rights and assets of the game from Disney? They're clearly not seeing any bread in it anymore and perhaps Disney would want to sell it as long as the name of the game is changed and any references to the Pirates of the Caribean franchise are changed. Then you will have the game fully community driven, not held back by uncertaincies there would be if Disney/GOG exploit the game. Maybe even try a Kickstarter.

Starmaker: Out of curiosity, has it ever worked with a MMORPG other than a MUD?
Is SWGemu legal? That's the only other similar case I can think of, off the top of my head.

I guess it will be free to play until you run out of gas...
I'm probably too late to post this, but yes, if anyone is wondering, how everyone learned about POTCO being on GOG as a wish was via one video (and maybe other sources too).

Not surprising. After all, EA's previous CEO loved the idea of having you pay to reload your gun.

nearly 7 months later and they are STILL posting here http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/pirates_of_the_caribbean_online
and still hoping against hope that gog will save their game
for that gog wil first have to license the ip from disney
which is highly unlikely

Considered trying some reality over there, but I know it wouldn't work. All they're thinking of is "I want", with no clue what they're actually asking.

if you try giving them some reality ( ie it wont work its an mmo gog doesnt do mmo's pirates is a disney IP etc ) all they will do is whine and label you as a hater instead of actually listen

im just perplexed that 8 months later they are still going
People still want the game and will pay for it in some way. I figure since the comments are left to the wishlist entry (and as long as people aren't spamming Seth Davis), it's not a huge deal.
