KingofGnG: It seems they want to
show advertising on the new OS lockscreen. Ads, on my fucking PC. If that's the case Microshit can put Windows 10 disks/downloads up its stinky ass forever. Not interested.
Imagine if there are privacy settings to disable suggestions based on personal interest. IMAGINE THAT.
ET3D: Yeah. Thanks for posting. I limited myself to what I found most exciting personally, but the rest is certainly also good news (apart from the .NET and Win32 on the app store, which depends on whether one considers the Microsoft store to be a good thing or not).
Continuum for phones is interesting, but I think it would only become really interesting with x86 phones which can turn into full PC's. ARM phones will provide a closed environment, and the demo I saw showed apps full screen with a purely metro start menu and phone navigation buttons, so it looked like it won't be a desktop version for ARM, just a way to take advantage of a large monitor and keyboard/mouse. Nice, but not as revolutionary as a full PC in your pocket.
Well, if there are any x86 phones released soon, we might just see that. Intel has been making quite a bit progress in reducing power requirements of their CPUs.
timppu: In retrospect, I would have just hoped Nokia had started making proper Android phones. I probably would have bought one.
They have 0 infrastructure. It wouldn't be a Nokia phone at all. Everything relevant to phones from Nokia went to Microsoft. They only kept the name and the enterprise-level networking business as well as the Here mapping service.
