ET3D: Microsoft announced that Windows 10 will have an Android subsystem. This make Windows more interesting for me, although I still prefer the Android UI. We'll see what my next tablet will be.
avatar
Elenarie: Also an iOS subsystem and as well as full support for web apps, .NET apps and Win32 apps in the new Universal API set. Meaning ANYTHING can utilise the new APIs. <3
Well, .NET and Win32 programs can already be run on Windows, and iOS apps need to be recompiled. Android apps may, however, run without need for special adaptation. At least, I hope that APK files from Humble, for example, might run that way. That would be more exciting than the other options.

Yes, but previously they couldn't be distributed through the Store. Now they can, and can also use a lot more of the new APIs whereas previously the exposure was limited.

Another thing, the mobile version can be turned into a desktop version by connecting a phone to a display. Mouse and keyboard can be attached as well.

Yeah. Thanks for posting. I limited myself to what I found most exciting personally, but the rest is certainly also good news (apart from the .NET and Win32 on the app store, which depends on whether one considers the Microsoft store to be a good thing or not).

Continuum for phones is interesting, but I think it would only become really interesting with x86 phones which can turn into full PC's. ARM phones will provide a closed environment, and the demo I saw showed apps full screen with a purely metro start menu and phone navigation buttons, so it looked like it won't be a desktop version for ARM, just a way to take advantage of a large monitor and keyboard/mouse. Nice, but not as revolutionary as a full PC in your pocket.
It seems they want to show advertising on the new OS lockscreen. Ads, on my fucking PC. If that's the case Microshit can put Windows 10 disks/downloads up its stinky ass forever. Not interested.
After the market share of Windows OS phones plummeted, yeah they took the plan B and started supporting also Android apps. More useful to mobile users than PC users. It seems Microsoft's eyes are keenly on the mobile market nowadays.

In retrospect, I would have just hoped Nokia had started making proper Android phones. I probably would have bought one.
No.
I really got bored of installing Windows.
Than start those millions of blog and threads and forums: oh, they changed the start menu.

Imagine if there are privacy settings to disable suggestions based on personal interest. IMAGINE THAT.

Well, if there are any x86 phones released soon, we might just see that. Intel has been making quite a bit progress in reducing power requirements of their CPUs.

They have 0 infrastructure. It wouldn't be a Nokia phone at all. Everything relevant to phones from Nokia went to Microsoft. They only kept the name and the enterprise-level networking business as well as the Here mapping service.

Hinteresting. Well, they can put ads on my lock screen if they pay me. I assume there will be an option to turn this off, at least.

I'm sure there is... (sarcasm) Like my 360 with ads on it, i'm sure there's an option to opt-out somewhere...

Sanjuro: I'm still curious how it came to pass that 7 and 8 are followed by 10. I mean, aren't MS forgetting something?
If you dig deep it has been shown the 8.1 could be Windows 9.

Version numbers add up to what the title name could be
http://www.extremetech.com/computing/191279-why-is-it-called-windows-10-not-windows-9

Windows 7 was v6.1
Windows 8 was v6.2
Windows 8.1 was v6.3
Windows 10 is v6.4
Ads in my Operating System? Focus on Mobile? Are they fu***ng kidding??
So Microsoft didn't get it.. we aren't Apple fanboy wannabes or mobile\console only users, we're the fu***ng PC master race!
That Linux option is becoming more and more real for me after every absurd MS announcement..
