This puts CDProjekt at the top of good developers (of not were already), who prefers game quality over release dates.

Hope the players will demonstrate with their wallets that they prefer finished and polished games!

I don't think anyone would disagree with this, but when a company release a statement saying 'we promise we won't delay it again after this delay.' then they delay it again, they do deserve a kick in the arse.

Tormentfan: I'll admit it all comes down to opinion, but when they can't pull all of those 'successful' things into something worth playing..

You might be quite happy with just a bunch of systems to play with, but I prefer those systems to serve the game, not to be the 'all of it'.

EDIT.. it's an rpg we're talking about after all, it's the one genre where story and characters are of prime importance.
It's not a bunch of systems to play with, they're tied together quite brilliantly by the world design - you don't necessarily need a good storyline to get a good game. And keep in mind that I absolutely agree with you on storyline being the most part of an RPG, I enjoy Original Sin immensely even in spite of that - I think that says a lot on how well done the game is. It's one of those games where story just serves to move the player forward as opposed to being worthwhile by its own - I think you'll find a fair share of very popular and successful videogames sharing this trait in the history ;-)

I don't see what that has to do with anything, but if you're curious, yes, I did.

And this is where our opinions differ. I play an rpg primarily for the experience of the world, story and characters, and if they fail there then it doesn't really matter what else they may have succeeded in.

Well... Yes, I've noticed :D Just saying that it's most certainly not a bad game, it's a shame you can't enjoy it. It's clear that the KS money has been put to a good use, just not for things you personally prefer.

(forum swallowed my first version, so a quick recap. :/)...

But I feel that it IS a bad game.

In any other genre you might be right, no-one plays MMO's or shooters for the world and story (although I personally feel that that certainly doesn't excuse them from having them) but RPG's are an entirely different beast, with entirely different expectations.

RPG's EXIST for those things, it's was the sole reason for their birth in the first place.

Do they? Do people only play RPGs for story and character interactions? Does vast majority of RPG players primarily expect this? User score of 4,5/5 on GOG, 8.8 on Metacritic and 93% on Steam, along with raving review scores would seem to suggest otherwise, but I am open to other sources ;-) I think you'll just have to do the same as I did with Dark Souls and accept that it's probably a great game, you're just not able to see its greatness due to a different set of expectations and prejudices. And no, you won't drag me into "What is an RPG?" debate :D

Some people will disagree. Some people are more concerned for options to customize and develop the game protagonist.

Emperor_of_Mars: Good. I waited half a year longer for Divinity OS, and it was worth it. So im fine with this delay as long as the final game is good.
avatar
Tormentfan: Really?

We got a fine combat system, one of the best in years in fact, but the actual story and characters were really dull and boring, I KS'd and was, all in all, quite disappointed.
Yep, I played all the other Divinity games before, so i got what i expected. Story and characters werent the most glorious part of the game, but was still good enough with a lot of smaller stories within. The overall plot wasnt really good, yes.
It was far from perfect but I still enoyed it quite a bit.
The Divinity magic Kool-Aid is finally fading. :S
Last time I checked there were 3 months left, now it's almost 6. Now I know how Cartman felt about the Wii release in the end of Go God Go XII.

I'll have to check it out online later, maybe with a pizza.
