Good. I waited half a year longer for Divinity OS, and it was worth it. So im fine with this delay as long as the final game is good.
Come on! At least offer something to keep the customer, that's me, quiet in the meantime! What about a discount on The Witcher Battle arena or someth'n? An extra Dark Horse comic? A digital game of Gwent?

Cavenagh: Obviously I'm not smart!, what harm does it do?

Vitek: It makes pre-release hype more important than game quality. If people buy the game before they know how good it is, companies will be more likely to pour money into marketing to sell the game instead to developement to make better game. If people waited for reviews, then they would mostly buy only good games instead of getting shitty/broken from pre-orders then devs would be more encouraged to make better games and those shitty out would die out more easily by themselves.
Fair enough I was just showing my support for the company by pre-ordering.
Instead of "Don't preorder at all", the message should be along the lines of "Don't preorder from companies who have a history in screwing up at quality, and support the ones who have shown more concern in that area in the past". But then again, I'm quite biased in the issue.

Yes, but Larian sweetened the deal with free alpha/beta access for everyone who supported the Kickstarter Campaign!

No, it should just be don't preorder at all. Any company out there runs the risk of becoming a shitty one quite unexpectedly. There's just absolutely no advantage to preordering for consumer. None at all. Nill. Zero. I really don't know how much more anti-consumer can you possibly get, regardless of company :D

Really?

We got a fine combat system, one of the best in years in fact, but the actual story and characters were really dull and boring, I KS'd and was, all in all, quite disappointed.

Tormentfan: Interesting.. A post from codex.

Looks like that one Neogaf member was right about CDProject having production problems with the game.

"it looks like many gaffers are painting CDP as some magical dev studio with only the best of interests of the gamers in mind. Trust me they are not. The bullshitting with the Witcher 3 started from day 1. PR is creating an overblown vision of a game that doesn't exist while the team is in crazy crunch time for over a year now. There's some bad shit going on that if GAF knew GAF would not like."

Normally this user would be ban for spreading fud, but he was verified by a mod. Meaning he's either a developer on it or has some sort of a close connection with CDProject.

2 Months later we got a trailer with that shows a downgrade and now the announcement of a delay. Going to be interesting to see if the game ends up being a mess or a disappointment.
Console compromise confirmed? Crikey ol' Christ and crumpets.

I don't know whow much to take it seriously, I just thought I'd point it out.

Well, there's a reason why I'm seriously worried about The Witcher 3 - what CDP is promising is something no other developer was capable of delivering in the entirety of gaming history.

Yeah, story was poor. Encounter design, exploration, location design, combat system, levelling system... Just about everything else a success, IMO. I'd call that a good thing.
I think delays (within reason) are fine. As long as they're not outdating their game doing it. Spend all the time needed to bring out a solid polished game. Just don't pull a Warhammer Online where they delayed the game for a whole year to 'polish' their game which was supposedly already pretty much done before the delay and it turned out anything but.

I'll admit it all comes down to opinion, but when they can't pull all of those 'successful' things into something worth playing..

You might be quite happy with just a bunch of systems to play with, but I prefer those systems to serve the game, not to be the 'all of it'.

EDIT.. it's an rpg we're talking about after all, it's the one genre where story and characters are of prime importance.

FFS !

I was really looking forward to play through it this winter when there's not much else to do. Spring and summertime is the worst time for such games to be released ( for me, at least.)
/rant

To say something positive, i hope this extra time will allow CDPR to add more content, land and stuff to explore - and more optimizations and less bugs from day 1.

They 'might', but, honestly I think it's just to bring the stuff that they have promised up to scratch. If there was any intention of this I imagine they'd have said something about it in order to soften the blow.
The delay was expected, really. I would have anticipated a longer delay than a couple of months. The recent trailer showed a considerable downgrade in graphics aswell.
