As far as I know there is an option for the devs to upload their patches themselves via Galaxy. The classic installers on the other hand have to be made and tested by GOG employees first. So it's only natural that Galaxy updates are more or less always faster.

#### Patch 2.51b (06 October 2017)

* A. Hold-Your-Breath Bug Patch: After watching a few streams, we realized there is some kinda bug that immobilizes the player and drains your SP. This happens when you use the interact button rapidly right after holding your breath. We added a small delay right after the breath holding action to address this issue.

* B. Japanese language patch: When you have a full backpack and try to buy items from a vending machine, Youngho says Spanish! instead of My bag is full... So, we taught him how to speak properly.

* C. Controller Tutorials: Have you ever used a XB1 controller with this game? Some control settings are slightly different from the tutorial images, so we also fixed that.

* D. Removed scream detection signal: When it comes to the console version, it's quite difficult to figure out which direction the killer is coming from. Since most console gamers will be playing the game in front of big screen like TV. But when you are playing in front of your PC or Mac, you’ll probably be using a headset to feel this game. The shouting sound is stereo, so if you listen carefully, you’ll know which direction she’s coming from, even without the UI.
The missing Ruiner and Planet Nomads offline installers I mentioned in my previous post have now also been added.

I know that this is a bit off-topic, but in hope of raising awareness, I crosspost this from https://www.gog.com/forum/general/lgogdownloader_gogdownloader_for_linux/post966 ( a support ticket to GOG has already been opened):

Currently, there are some (92 of my 1250) games whose current offline installer cannot be downloaded via the backup feature of the GOG Galaxy Client, I hope this will be addressed soon. It seems that something is borked there.
