Yeah pretty much my main issue is that people were attacking me from the get go, and then the downvoting system... you really need to remove that because it just encourages everyone to be hostile to each other...
I understand things got off to a bumpy start for you here. Sorry about that, but welcome back to the forums. Please realize that we do read forum threads like the beg list and we do look at the wanted list (even still!), so it's not like your vote doesn't count. Unfortunately, wanting doesn't always make it so. We are working hard to bring you guys all of the great classics you could hope for, but it takes time for any game to arrive here, and some games may never make it to the catalog. :(

Every forum has its own unwritten rules of behavior. I think you'll find the crowd here is a pretty good bunch if you try to meet them halfway. ;)

Edit: pursuant to that last point, continuing to quote a thread about necro posting on a different forum doesn't equate to a solid explanation on this one. Since I'm more or less the only mod on these forums--when I have time and am not running the Marketing department--let me clarify: post on old threads if you like. No one here minds that too much, as long as you're furthering a discussion. Resurrecting a dozen old threads in an hour with a post that is more or less "get this game!" has the same effect on a forum reader as starting a dozen threads on that topic in an hour, which is probably where the friction comes from. It's not the fact that you are posting want threads. It's that you have posted so many.

Some of the newer people don't seem to care about talking about games anymore just making vast quantities of spam posts to get those stars because of the stupid rating system they put in.... so its full of rubbish like "post about your sad your life is here"...

They should make a new forum really since obviously some people would scream blue murder about having their toys taken out of the pram.

To me it just makes me just think it's justified to repost the message when they do that...
1. Whenever I see a post that is hidden, I just have to click on it to see what made it so. Hiding posts actually highlights them, for most people.

2. When you keep posting the same shit over and over again, you're pissing everyone off. even the ones who may have been on your side from the beginning.

3. There is no need to quote an entire 50-line post in order to reply to a single line in it. Especially not several times in a row.

4. Posting shitloads of questionable links in all your posts is not a good posting style, and sure to annoy even more people.

I'm baffled. The purpose of a forum is, as far as I know, communication with others. There's not much one can accomplish by "force" - what use are posts that nobody wants to read ?
How is insulting the community supposed to solve anything ? Having nice conversations is as much as one can hope for here - antagonizing others undermines this drastically.

Not to mention the anti-gamer, anti-nerd, reactionist paradigm used in said insults... "Serious interest in gaming is a thing-to-be-ashamed-of", "acting as if people with whom you communicate by digital means are as real as those encountered in the physical realm is the wrong way to go about things"...
I'm smarter than to feel insulted by terrible fallacies but the idea that people can follow such reasoning... makes me truly uneasy.

I'm fairly certain he's missed about 10 or so, but you should have a strong idea of just why people are responding in such a manner. The polite responders basically got ignored or dirt kicked in their faces for their efforts.

I read about 12.. that was the majority, I feel I got enough of a cross-section of her posts to form an opinion.

Do you know what I saw?.. some posts with a lot of caps and double posts (which admittedly is a sure fire way to piss people off, but it's still a dumb thing to get so p.o'd at ) .. I didn't see bile such as she was receiving, aimed by her at anyone else (If I've missed that, then by all means point me in the right direction.)

Sorry, Orcishgamer.. apart from the fact that she should have gone about it another way.. I don't see the reason for such a congregation of hate.

AND for the record.. there ARE bullies on this site.. I've seen it... and it's all the worse when you just know that there are a whole bunch of those poster are just 'jumping on the popular bandwagon' as an excuse to have a go at someone.. the replies have been vitriolic, and far outweigh the 'offense'... and I'm tired of coming to this site and seeing the ganging up that goes on, and it's getting worse. It's sickening.
