Fenixp: What are you talking about, it's entirely in 3D, just sidescrolling perspective
It's completely 3D ... only seen from a 2D perspective. ;)

N0w3gg: Full price would be 3-4 hrs for 10 USD, with no replayability. Takes a special kind of gamer to not consider that a bit of a ripoff, especially given the ending. On sale, 5 USD for 3-4 hrs maybe not so bad.
avatar
EckoShy: A "special kind of gamer" huh? And what do you mean by that? Because if you mean a gamer who enjoys a quality experience at a fair price, then you would be correct. I've payed more money for games that didn't last as long, but they were damn good memorable experiences. If The Fall is anything like those than it's perfectly justifiable, it all depends on the quality of the experience. You can't just measure dollars per hour like some robot to determine if a game is worth buying.
exactly...

i like jagged alliance , fallout, baldurs, commandos , desperados 1 (desperados 2 is bad)
(the classics not the remakes/3d versions)

spend quite some hours before i finished jagged alliance and fallout, never finished baldurs 1or2
these games were 89 guilders for commandos 1 and 69 guilders for commandos beyond the call of duty
79 guilders for fallout 1 and 89 guilders for fallout 2 (cd)

comm. 2 and 3 . were availble at 5 euros :D each ,so thats a steal i have 2 retail copies of each
personally i favor comm 1 (the first 2 games), i dont like the 2 and 3 is even worse.

also have the gog versions

commandos ammo pack (thats the 1st 2 commando games before they change the 'engine')
commandos 2+3

N0w3gg: Glad I got that on sale, then. 1 hr is too short, but I assume that when you say it CAN be beaten in 1 hr, it probably takes longer for first-timers. The Fall can also be beaten in 1 hr if you know what you're doing. I'm sure the major difference is that The Fall is the one that feels like it's ending just as it's getting started, but I haven't played Another World so maybe they're both a waste of money if not time.
avatar
yogsloth: Morrowind can be beaten in 3 minutes. :)
Focus on the CAN in your own statement, versus 5 hours MAX for The Fall. And, that's only if you spend A LOT of time staring at walls and wondering around. You try staring at walls and wondering around in Morrowind and you'll keep going, and going, and going, and

IAmSinistar: I was so excited to see a second game in the Heretic Kingdom series that I bought it before I knew it was incomplete. And now it seems like there are issues as to whether it will be truly finished. Why do companies do this? And indies are just as bad, with their "Part One" or "Chapter One" releases. Utter hubris.
avatar
gamesfreak64: ??? is this the:

Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition ?
is also another unfinished game?
No, Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition (or Kult: Heretic Kingdoms) is finished, its sequel, Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, is the one that might not ever be so, because the publisher, bitComposer, filed for bankruptcy in late December 2014, putting the release of Book II of Shadows at risk.

Still, the developers of the game said development is still happening and they're working with 3D People to find a workaround, so everything should be fine, even without bitComposer.

N.B.: 3D People is the studio behind the first game in the Heretic Kingdoms series.

JMich: Damn it, here I was, thinking it was this game.
You mean the worst game ever made in the history of video games? Nah, this isn't it. ;)

thats true,i gave a wrong description, i appologise for that

what i meant to say that its no game like warcraft , in warcraft you can turn around 360 degrees, tilt zoom in and morre like that.
You can have 3d but in a 2d way shown, side by side, you can also have depth in a 2d side by side scroller.

I mean a character that really moves in a 3d environment for example:

the amazing spider-man gameplay pc
if you type it into youtube search you get some videos

It would be great to see Skullgirls, Torchlight 2, and Transistor on GOG! Don't forget about Eldritch too!
avatar
Barry_Woodward:
I don't know why Costume Quest 2, Limbo, or Braid would be passed over, but I heard that Torchlight 2 is because of integration with Steam.

I voted for all these games though. Bring em ALL here :)
avatar
Barry_Woodward: It depends on what you mean by finished. Even though it's part one of a trilogy, it has an ending. It's not another Dark Matter.
Yeah, it's sad that people are shitting on this because of other games.

I was actually just trying to tease Fenixp, not commenting on your post. I wouldn't describe something like The Fall as as 3D game either, for the same reasons you mention, even if technically it was made in 3D.

realkman666: Yeah, it's sad that people are shitting on this because of other games.
Personally, I'm not shitting on it, I just have a bunch of self-proclaimed story-focused games with complete storyline that I want to purchase and finish which quite logically get a higher place on my wishlist than story-focused games which don't have a complete storyline. Besides, the game does look interesting, I just hate cliffhangers - and "Judging by other similar cases" is called "Experience" ;-)

Technicality is all there is to 3D. The term you're looking for is not 2D, it's probably 'sidescrolling'

I personally would add those to this list:

Creeper World
Creeper World 2 Redemption
Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal

Demos can be found on the developer's website.

Though I guess many people wouldn't like them as they are flash games (or at least the first two are).

From a player's perspective it doesn't make a lot of sense then to talk about 3D games, though, if it only refers to the engine, not the camera control and perspectives. Unless it's about system requirements, maybe.

Looks cool, wishlisted for now.
