Barry_Woodward: Another World is one of my favorite games and can be beat in less than an hour. It's currently $9.99 on GOG.
Glad I got that on sale, then. 1 hr is too short, but I assume that when you say it CAN be beaten in 1 hr, it probably takes longer for first-timers. The Fall can also be beaten in 1 hr if you know what you're doing. I'm sure the major difference is that The Fall is the one that feels like it's ending just as it's getting started, but I haven't played Another World so maybe they're both a waste of money if not time.

DyNaer: i recommend it if you like this kind of game, however at the end of it you want to play more ;) , because many questions are left without an answer , and no it's not like Dark Matters.
Thanks, though that pretty much cements the idea that I should wait until the series is complete. :)

IronArcturus: So did the developer say anything about the other episodes for this game? If it's only 3-4 hours, that's pretty short for a game.
There are posts in the Steam community that range between an announcement of some kind in the coming months (based on an estimation by the developer) and never (the developer is apparently watching sales very closely, and has no interest in completing this project if sales of the first episode don't meet projections of some kind).

I pretty much understand, i stopped to buy incomplete game since a moment.

still waiting shadows : heretic kindows's second part , before playing it..... -_- (and i hope a solution will be found to resolve the problem)
Good release.

I was so excited to see a second game in the Heretic Kingdom series that I bought it before I knew it was incomplete. And now it seems like there are issues as to whether it will be truly finished. Why do companies do this? And indies are just as bad, with their "Part One" or "Chapter One" releases. Utter hubris.

Morrowind can be beaten in 3 minutes. :)

JMich: Damn it, here I was, thinking it was this game.
Yeah, me too. I always wanted to play that, but it had Starforce when it was released, so I never picked up a retail copy.
It seems like a solid game and with a nice discount but as others before me, I prefer to wait until it is completed. No more love for cliffhangers..

Yeah, it looks like this "The Fall" game is technically incomplete. I don't understand why GOG is accepting games like this.

gamesfreak64: it seems no 3d
avatar
Fenixp: What are you talking about, it's entirely in 3D, just sidescrolling perspective

Perhaps backgrounds are 2D... But I don't think so

okay... thats a bummer
anyways , well i guess then i wait and see if these other parts come out, if not, well thats a bummer for this one.

Barry_Woodward: Yeah, people fretting about this being only part one of a trilogy, don't. It's satisfying, in and of itself. Even if the developers were to go out of business and the other two installments were never made, it'd still be worth your time and money.

N0w3gg: Full price would be 3-4 hrs for 10 USD, with no replayability. Takes a special kind of gamer to not consider that a bit of a ripoff, especially given the ending. On sale, 5 USD for 3-4 hrs maybe not so bad.
A "special kind of gamer" huh? And what do you mean by that? Because if you mean a gamer who enjoys a quality experience at a fair price, then you would be correct. I've payed more money for games that didn't last as long, but they were damn good memorable experiences. If The Fall is anything like those than it's perfectly justifiable, it all depends on the quality of the experience. You can't just measure dollars per hour like some robot to determine if a game is worth buying.

No, the second Heretic Kingdoms game, Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, is the so-far incomplete one. Book II: Age of Demons was supposed to be released for it by now.

I am free to measure by whatever meter I choose. In the modern game market, where I have purchased games for 5 USD that result in 20 or more hours of entertainment, 10 USD for a no-replayability single-player puzzle game culminating in a mere 3 hours is an extravagance. By "special kind of gamer," I mean someone who is more interested in curiosities and flirtatious experiences, who is capable of shrugging their shoulders and walking away after only a few hours or who will replay the same short experience over and over and over regardless. There is potential in The Fall, but to claim there is anything more than potential is to be hopelessly optimistic at this point or to possess a large bank account.
