NuffCatnip: I missed this promo, do I still get Arena and Daggerfall if I buy Morrowind ?
avatar
HunchBluntley: Or any other Bethesda-published game sold here (the Elder Scrolls spin-offs, Fallouts, Dooms, Quake), but yes.
Thanks. :)
Ill get the game later today then.
avatar
G_Man_007: Would you mind? You're a star, plus thanks for the good news. Yes, I'm cheap...
avatar
JMich: Here you are.
you know how gog is using the word "temporary"?

"permanent" could mean anything :)

apehater: "permanent" could mean anything :)
Like this for example.
Damn, missed this by an hour >.<

So do we get Arena and Daggerfall even after the promo? I know they can be had for free from the website, but gog.com has a way of making these games function nice and easy like whereas last time I tried Daggerfall it wouldn't function properly even using compatibility modes.

The worst Elder Scrolls games cost money, while the best are free. What a strange world.

Why that? Redguard's awesome... right?
I asked the same thing on the ES forum but to no response, so I'll ask here again (for you, Crosmando or anyone): about the Redguard "port" and the 3DFX deal, can you elaborate a little more? I remember playing this one back in the day and, judging from a video I saw just early, it's about the same deal.

Thanks!

Yes. As far I'm aware (bolding to catch others' attention and possibly help), you can get Arena and Daggerfall for free - with purchase of any Bethesda game - as long as Bethesda is a publisher here on GOG, basically a "permanent" deal. Or as many others have said, you can learn to use DOSBox and get the Bethesda-site versions legally running through that program, though apparently the GOG versions (CD-ROM) are superior.

No, Redguard is a decent action-adventure. What I was saying is just that Arena and Daggerfall are the best TES games.

Glad to hear that!
Never played any of these, except for a little period -an hour in the 90s, maybe- of Daggerfall.
I know Redguard is a quite challenging adventure game that demands persistence, and the backstory is great too. As far as I recall, it has memorable NPCs and is remembered by it's, uh, clunkiness or something.
My doubt about GOG's version remains, since some have complained or something :)
But judging from youtube videos it's just as I remember. Damn you purists! :P
But thanks for the response!

Martek: Is there no individual gamecards for Arena or Daggerfall? If I search for either game on the homepage game searcher, nothing is found..
avatar
HunchBluntley: No. They are currently only available bundled with any other Bethesda-published game.
Rats.

I understand the reasoning - but it still seems like those titles deserve a gamecard - with description, screenshots, all the good stuff like that.

Someone that has no clue about them (like me!) might like to read the gamecard and maybe decide the purchase of a game that then gives these free title is worthwhile because they like what the read and see about them. (Okay so not exactly like me - since I did buy the bundle - but I'd still like to 'read up' on the free titles).

How about it GOG - A gamecard for Daggerfall and Arena! :)
Sorry if its already been asked but, is there a reason Arena and Daggerfall don't have game pages? They just direct to DOOM 2...

Edit: hah, just read the post above me, +1.
