vsr: Daggerfall is the CD version too?
I'm asking because free version on Bethesda's site is around 120 Megabytes.
A 3.5" floppy disk could only hold about 1.44 MB of data. You would have needed a ton of them to contain the monstrous nature of Daggerfall.

You are right of course. I thought free version had cut in-game videos (hence the size 120Mb instead of 650/700Mb) to reduce server's download traffic.
Thanks to all for the clarification! :)

Crosmando: The GOG person who did the dosbox config for Arena/Daggerfall should look at it again, they are stuttering like fuck on the current config.
You could try reducing the cycles in DOSBox with (IIRC) ALT + F11. That worked for Classicor is his Daggerfall stream yesterday. But, yeah, if a lot of people wind up having this problem, maybe they can tweak the .conf file in the installer later.

emeres: [...] Is the Daggerfall release the patched version?
It's certainly fully patched up to the latest official version; however, I couldn't say if it includes any community fixes. I doubt it, personally.

EDIT: Removed an incorrect assertion about the version of Daggerfall currently available on elderscrolls.com (it's 1.00, not 2.13); also, one of the Blues confirmed that there's no fan patches or other community content in the GOG version.

SeduceMePlz: I assume GOG must have tweaked the exe to remove the disc check, so: Is the GOG version compatible with Morrowind Code Patch (which modifies the exe)? Or do we need to ask/wait for an update to MCP? Its savegame corruption fix is essential for those of us who enjoy using mods. (I'd check this myself, but I probably won't have a good opportunity to download and install until tomorrow.
To answer my own question: The GOG version of Morrowind seems to be compatible with MCP. I haven't yet verified that the fixes work in-game, but the patch reported successful installation and the game starts without any apparent issue.

I'm somewhat surprised that no one else jumped on this... Take it from someone who experienced several instances of corrupted save games before MCP: If you use mods with this game, you should use MCP.

paladin181: Nope. You are a close personal friend of the Emperor, who invites you to investigate a matter of sensitive importance, delivering a letter to the Queen of Daggerfall. The matter needs discretion which is why he turns to his friend for this mission. That's why you meet in the dungeon, because no one is to know about your quest. He even says "Excuse the gloom." as his first words and explains some of this.

Tarm: Ah. It was the "meet in dungeon" part that confused my memory.
You don't even meet in a dungeon. You meet in a dark room, yes, and he says "Please excuse the gloom", but it's not a dungeon. The manual describes the events of the opening movie and your relationship to the Emperor, and says that he called you to his audience chamber at midnight, which you do not find unusual, because you're accustomed to the Emperor calling on you as a trusted secret weapon.

In Oblivion, on the other hand, a different Emperor meets a different player character in a dungeon.

At least it was dark. I remembered something right. :/
Wow, I can finally play Redguard again! I have all the other games except Battlespire (might try that, too), but I never got to finish Redguard when I had it years ago. Hooray, this has been a long time coming!

That's not true. It's the same Emperor.
I just realized I got Daggerfall and Arena free b/c I got Doom. That was a nice surprise, thanks gog! :)
Aw man...I'm gonna have to think about this one....

I've got all of these games already; twice even because of the Elder Scrolls Anthology. But at the same time....it's Elder Scrolls!

Let the internal debating commence!

My mistake. You're right, they're both Uriel Septim the 7th, but he definitely wasn't played by Patrick Stewart in the Daggerfall days, and he seems to have aged more gracefully even past Morrowind into Oblivion than Queen Barenziah, who looked significantly older in Morrowind than she did in Daggerfall, and she's an elf!
Oh wow GOG, this is amazing, giggles, the cliff racers are here....

Indeed - get them while they last!

Won't be long before St. Juib chases them away...
