Uninhibitedly quirky.

Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, two of the zaniest open-world adventures ever, are available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 60% & 66% discount!

After a successful, albeit imperfect, initial debut in the gangster sandbox adventure genre, the Saints Row series reached new heights with each subsequent sequel. Saints Row 2 was Volition's response to every bit of criticism that it was just a bit too much like GTA. That response ended up giving us a robust open-world experience, with a powerful character creation system, tons of customisability, and a unique dose quirk that said "We're all just here to have fun." Our release of Saints Row 2 has received the GOG.com treatment: the most infamous issue, which required gamers to manually slow down modern CPUs to play the game, has been greatly improved upon. Enjoy!
If the second game was a tad odd, Saints Row: The Third is quirk overload. From weaponized sex-toys through ridiculous vehicles and characters, the plot of Saints Row: The Third is like a Hollywood summer flick turned up to eleven. If you're in the right mood for it, there there is no place quite like it to go on a hoverbike rampage or engage in wrestlemania with innocent bystanders. The word "sandbox" has never been more appropriate.

Let your inhibitions go with Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! he launch discounts will last until Monday, May 18 at 12:59 PM GMT.

blotunga: It's not included in the Full Package. And I'm not sure it's available on the PC...
It is. The Unlockable Pack is also not included in the Full Package.

Ah yes, they are on Steam only.. Well since they both severely unbalance the game, I don't want them anyway.
Thanks for the clarification guys :)

Randalator: It's not even 10 bucks for SR2 and SR3, what decision is there to make?
avatar
blotunga: Depends on how much 10 bucks means to you normally. For me 10 bucks is 2 lunches and also an hour of work... And I have both already somewhere else...
I'm not saying you must buy these, just realise that your steam version is only a rental.

Since I'm too lazy back up my GOG collection...

Seweryn: Too bad i rented it few months ago on steam sale lol :P
I felt the need to correct your statement. :P

blotunga: Me too, too bad I got SR4 on steam, but who would've thought they would show up here (well not yet... but I hope soon):)
Yeah, wasn't counting on them either. but I don't regret getting them there, I enjoyed both the time I spent playing and the time spent talking about it. It's the games I bought on steam, never got around to play and then show up in GOG that I really regret buying.
Never expected this :)

We welcome you, Deep Silver to the GOG collective :)

I guess you're right... Like Darksiders 2, Risen 2 etc. And I'm sure there will be more...
I hope we can eventually get Dead Island here on GOG (now that we're friends with Deep Silver).

Rinu: Omg, yes, my body is beyond ready! The Third is the best installment in the whole series and a game which I am really fond of. A great wild comedy games full of pop-cultural references with ridiculously awesome VO Laura Bailey taking a lead.

I am super excited to see it here DRM-free. Thanks, GOG & Volition/Deep Silver.

NoNewTaleToTell: Laura Bailey has nothing on Vaguely Eastern European Boss (Female Voice 2)! Vaguely Eastern European Boss even has combat dialogue that proves it: "I am the best", "I win again", "There are no challenges left" among other quotes, prove her complete superiority!
Solid, reminds me of Helena from Orphan Black :).

I actually consider playing as Female (Hispanic) Boss 3, Rebecca Sanabria, because I played SR2 after SR3 and SR4 and she rocked in it too. Bailey will remain the one and only true boss, of course :D.

Me too... I loved that game. xD

Thiev: We don't have a separate version for German users and the current one is uncut (i.e. civilians can be used as shield etc)
Thanks! I hope you manage to stick with this approach, it is one of the many things I appreciate about GOG.

HeDanny: I do not recommend Saint's Row 2 to anyone who cares about consistency in games. This is not a character you can like. The messed up things they do are not "am a cool anti-hero" badass. They are just straight up wrong. This is all according to the story. Which flies straight in the face of the gameplay. The gameplay is the most varied in the whole series, and almost all of it will have you at least smiling, if not chuckling or out-right guffawing. This story, and this character. The things they do, and as a result cause to happen within the story, have absolutely no place in a game with this sort of gameplay focus.

It is unquestionably the most unbalanced separation between story and gameplay I have ever seen. I can NOT recommend the game to anyone. If you like playing an asshole with no redeeming qualities, there are far better examples out there (Hatred looks a prime candidate). If you like playing stupidly fun games, stick with SR3 and/or 4.
Thanks for the reply HeDanny! That sure doesn't sound like something I would appreciate which is too bad because I was (and still is) more interested in this game than the third. I'd love to hear a second opinion on the matter but for now I won't buy any of the games.

May I ask what it is you're wondering about specifically or do you mean Saints Row 2 in general?
