Uninhibitedly quirky.

Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, two of the zaniest open-world adventures ever, are available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 60% & 66% discount!

After a successful, albeit imperfect, initial debut in the gangster sandbox adventure genre, the Saints Row series reached new heights with each subsequent sequel. Saints Row 2 was Volition's response to every bit of criticism that it was just a bit too much like GTA. That response ended up giving us a robust open-world experience, with a powerful character creation system, tons of customisability, and a unique dose quirk that said "We're all just here to have fun." Our release of Saints Row 2 has received the GOG.com treatment: the most infamous issue, which required gamers to manually slow down modern CPUs to play the game, has been greatly improved upon. Enjoy!
If the second game was a tad odd, Saints Row: The Third is quirk overload. From weaponized sex-toys through ridiculous vehicles and characters, the plot of Saints Row: The Third is like a Hollywood summer flick turned up to eleven. If you're in the right mood for it, there there is no place quite like it to go on a hoverbike rampage or engage in wrestlemania with innocent bystanders. The word "sandbox" has never been more appropriate.

Let your inhibitions go with Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! he launch discounts will last until Monday, May 18 at 12:59 PM GMT.
Well, just spent a few minutes fiddling about with SR2. On the plus side, the game works without needing to be patched.

On the negative side, it's still a very poorly optimized game and is best experienced with diminished display options.
I have to say, I'm really glad I haven't bought Gat out of hell yet on steam. I'll now wait until it gets here.

haha. I wish I could do that. But I will HAVE to buy it. I just can't have "incomplete". I'll buy it here as well, of course. I'll likely only ever play the Steam version if Steam Only friends want to play together. Otherwise I'll stick with GOG.

The Discount here is just not deep enough for me to triple dip on these ones. I'll wait for the whole series, and a 75% or more discount on all of it.

Darksiders, on the other hand...

I'm in no hurry. Enjoy it for me in the meantime.
I really enjoyed Saints Row 3, it was just a little too short unfortunately.

Oh im in no hurry either. 75% off or no sale! :)
I meant I would have to buy it... eventually.

That said, this series seems to go on sale pretty much every day that ends in y, so eventually will probably end up being sooner than later.

Honestly, I'm surprised the launch discount isn't deeper here.

Hawk52: Saints Row 2 is an interesting release. If GOG somehow managed to fix it up, then all the praise in the world. But it's horribly, horribly broken in just about every single way elsewhere. It's pretty much unplayable if you bought it from Steam or another source.
Depends on the machine. E.g. on my ASUS G75VW laptop (with Geforce GTX 670M/Windows 7), the Steam version was pretty ok and playable, BUT it did run slightly on the wrong speed (had to perform a timing test to notice it), which one could fix with the third-party mods (to change the game speed closer to the correct one). I am unsure if playing it without the gamespeed fix would have caused any problems later in the game though (timed missions?).

The odd thing was though that I got that third-party fix to work only on Windows 7. When I tried it on Windows 8 (on the same machine), the fix didn't seem to change the gamespeed at all. Some others reported that the speed issue didn't even happen in windows 8 for some reason (ie. the fix is not even needed in Windows 8), but I had a different experience. The wrong gamespeed was still there also on Windows 8, and I couldn't change it with the fix.

I don't know if that is also PC dependent.

Me too, too bad I got SR4 on steam, but who would've thought they would show up here (well not yet... but I hope soon):)

I also have SR3 and SR4 on Steam but only the base game. And hello? GOG? DRM-free? Hell yes, I'm buying it here again.

I have both full there :/ So it's a harder decision to make.

It's not even 10 bucks for SR2 and SR3, what decision is there to make?

Depends on how much 10 bucks means to you normally. For me 10 bucks is 2 lunches and also an hour of work... And I have both already somewhere else...
Question about SR3 -- are the DLC optional to install?. Wasnt there one piece of DLC which kinda broke one of the moves (i cant remember the details) -- vampire something? (blood sucker dlc?)/

It's not included in the Full Package. And I'm not sure it's available on the PC...
