Uninhibitedly quirky.

Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, two of the zaniest open-world adventures ever, are available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 60% & 66% discount!

After a successful, albeit imperfect, initial debut in the gangster sandbox adventure genre, the Saints Row series reached new heights with each subsequent sequel. Saints Row 2 was Volition's response to every bit of criticism that it was just a bit too much like GTA. That response ended up giving us a robust open-world experience, with a powerful character creation system, tons of customisability, and a unique dose quirk that said "We're all just here to have fun." Our release of Saints Row 2 has received the GOG.com treatment: the most infamous issue, which required gamers to manually slow down modern CPUs to play the game, has been greatly improved upon. Enjoy!
If the second game was a tad odd, Saints Row: The Third is quirk overload. From weaponized sex-toys through ridiculous vehicles and characters, the plot of Saints Row: The Third is like a Hollywood summer flick turned up to eleven. If you're in the right mood for it, there there is no place quite like it to go on a hoverbike rampage or engage in wrestlemania with innocent bystanders. The word "sandbox" has never been more appropriate.

Let your inhibitions go with Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! he launch discounts will last until Monday, May 18 at 12:59 PM GMT.

Lemon_Curry: Thanks for the reply HeDanny! That sure doesn't sound like something I would appreciate which is too bad because I was (and still is) more interested in this game than the third. I'd love to hear a second opinion on the matter but for now I won't buy any of the games.

NoNewTaleToTell: May I ask what it is you're wondering about specifically or do you mean Saints Row 2 in general?
Didn't you read his 'words'? ;)

If not, then please take a look at the post I'm referring to:

I saw his words (ha) but in true NoNewTaleToTell fashion I somehow managed to miss the post he was quoting haha.

I would say that yes, Saints Row 2 does have moments that could be described as "sick", however I wouldn't say they're "common", more like one or two moments like that per faction storyline (with there being four faction storylines) and some are worse than others. I also wouldn't say that there is a difference between the story and the gameplay either, it flows together a lot like the old 3d era GTA style games.

I think if you can play and enjoy Postal 2 and the 3d era GTA style games (especially San Andreas) you shouldn't have any trouble "handling" Saints Row 2. Just like in those games, your character is a maniacal mass murder (who earned those labels) who is okay with who they are as a person.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. :)
I haven't played Postal 2 (it just doesn't appeal to me) and I'm not familiar with the 3rd era GTA style games so... consider me old and antiquated. :P
I have to mention one thing:
Rockstar stole 17 soundtracks from GTA San Andreas on Steam. Yes, they stole 17 soundtracks from people who bought theirs game, from theirs customers because license to use this music expired.
SR series uses licensed music too. But with DRM-Free it will not be possible for them to steal music from game you paid for (if you backup it to your storage or [rollback the patch with Galaxy]<- not sure about that though, but fingers crossed).
Any plans for Saints Row 4? Who is the bottleneck for that release? ;)

Posted over on the (I guess) official SR boards, but there is not much going on; maybe if other gog & SR fans chime in it gets attention by someone who can give some details: https://www.saintsrow.com/threads/show/30347565
