Well, maybe they are going to finish that *missing* 6th 2-level episode from Dimension of the Machine (working name "Dimension of the Navigators" taken directly from my imagination) and provide GOG with the full package.

Berzerk2k2: In my opinion it's time SmollestLight keeps talking and tells us what the actual fuck is going on here and why the enhanced edition update is still not here (on Steam they already released a small first patch for it yesterday).
Not to defend GOG here and I won't

The update isnt GOG's to make, its NDS' and Kex Team's and they are prioritizing other fixes before working on the GOG update they were only informed recently that the update would even HIT GOG in the last 24 to 48 hours so its really low priority for them, basically GOG decided to open its big mouth and claim everything was finalized which was REALLY stupid to do and NOT the TRUTH. (once again another problem GOG seems to have "many gamers" anyone? anyways getting back on topic) Since its clear that the update isnt even close to being ready.

To quote a KEX Team member on this "Yeah this doesn't really have anything to do with us. This is GOG's bed they made"

so once again, GOG has decided to open its big dumb mouth and say shit before anything was set in stone.
So honestly I say be prepared for this update to maybe hit around Christmas at the earliest though its most likely going to be here by 2022.

GOG should have really not said anything, so its GOG's fault for setting stupid expectations.

Also I know I am going to get downrepped to fuck for this, do all you want GOG fanbots or who ever is doing it, GOG cant hide from criticism forever just set me back into the 1600 or 1700 hundreds that will be fine, I dont care anymore.

Christmas? That wouldn't be too bad imo, honestly. :p I'm just hoping it doesn't take a full year, but even then I can wait.

Yeah if GOG somehow gets hurt by this, that's on them. shrug I can't imagine it'll be too severe though honestly, unless reputation and connections hurt with dev(s) and pub(s).

And if they and all other competition die, at least we'll always have Steam where we can conveniently have all our games in one place, the most important thing of all time. :^) (I am actually thinking about getting GTA V now that I actually have a semi-modern computer.)

It wont hurt GOG with devs or pubs but its customers but it was stupid to announce anything before it was even set in stone but considering how GOG's PR has been since 2009, I am not surprised this SNAFU for GOG since then.

certainly; GOG has made various dumb mistakes and somehow remains in business.

Aye, it be.
And you are welcome.

I hope I am wrong but usually I have been on a roll lately and I don't like it.

Not sure why you wrote this since the vast majority of this forum is people complaining about the site they're on in one way or another.

I'm not sure GOG is that stupid to announce something that is not *set in stone*. I think we'll know the reason (or something close to it) in due time, right now it's all speculation.

I've no idea why people are blaming GOG for a delayed Quake release when the ultimate reason lies with Bethesda choosing to take a 25 year old game someone else made (developed by id Software, published by GT Interactive), then stuff completely unnecessary DRM / Bethesda Account online account requirements into it in the process of simply adding the Quake equivalent of Sigil (2019) for Doom 1 + fixing the soundtrack, only to have to go back and remove that Bethesda account integration again for GOG. That's far more Bethesda's fault than GOG's as the "need" for a 3rd party online account for 90's shooters is a completely fake one in the first place...
Quake (1996) was developed by id Software, published by id Software, distributed by GT Interactive (a bit later by Activision).

Bethesda did a good job with Quake re-release by employing a team to develop additional expansion, however Dimension of the Machine is clearly missing 1 episode (this is evident upon entering the main hub level and reading last message about 6 runes before final boss level) and there are no new monsters. I like how KEX engine handle the game, it's almost like playing Quake via Quakespasm engine (with/without Spiked fork) and square particles effects is always a plus in my opinion, colored lighting effects are awesome in some specific level areas, but disabling Quake's camera bobbing by default makes strafing feels *unrealistic* (it feels like 10 frames input lag), jumping down with weapon models hitting upper corner of player's view hud is insanely bad (what were QA testers thinking?), loading a game from main menu does something but only a second load will actually load a game (again QA testers, what the hell?), they could have add configurable keys for save/load (quicksave/load bind to F5/F9 and overwrites the last save slot just) and keys for weapons and hud selection. Everything else is almost good.

Now for the Bethesda account. Well, yes, corporation is always guilty of being a corporation. Microsoft has XBOX account, Electronic Arts - Origin, Take Two - 2K account (introduced in Mafia II: Definitive Edition), Rockstar - Rockstar Games Social Club (it was a requirement to play GTA V for me on Steam), Ubisoft - Uplay (or maybe they changed the name again). They all put their account requirements into their latest releases, I don't find it amusing yet I'm not surprised since that was the point of creating them in the first place. So can we blame Bethesda for Bethesda account in Quake, Doom 1-2, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Rage 2 (only 1 patch and nothing)? Of course. Will it help? I don't think so. And even if Bethesda or GOG is to blame for that delayed Quake update, they will never state it so bluntly due to corporate ethics.
Don't forget they announced this during the QuakeCon sale when Quake: The Offering was discounted. Coincidence?
