OK. I figured it out. I got #5 wrong. It is NOT "exposition" (silly me).
Fortunately for y'all, I have the game, so I will not redeem.
Good luck.

That was my answer for 5 as well. Hmmm....

bler144: Curious if others think the answers to 1 & 13 start with 'w' and 'p' respectively.
No.

bler144: I do see some possible similarities in answers - an answer that starts with 'ver' and another with 'vir' and 8 & 15 are very close. But still not sure what to do with that info or if it's even relevant.
It is very relevant.

bler144: 16 & 20 have a lot of letters in common.
Also very relevant.

Handsomely done, mrkgnao!

It's often a relief when somebody gets it, as I know I haven't gone too far off the rails.

Exposition is a pretty solid fit to the clue (I hadn't thought of that!) but as you've found, it doesn't work. Thanks for bringing it to light.

edit:
Just to reiterate, the game is still there for the next solver!

I'm up to 18 out of 20, but I think I'm pretty thoroughly stumped and should call it a night.

'Expo' is the common shorthand so most people presumably will start there. Still, once you know it's not exposition, it's pretty easy to move to the right one.

But given that I don't understand why the difference between expo and the right answer there matter, it clearly means I haven't solved the puzzle itself.

Yet!

Have a good night.
Cracked it! But like mrkgnao I already have the game so it is still up for grabs.
1,13 and 16 are problematic to me for some reason, maybe it'll pop up to me next time I look at this (sometimes puzzles feel really easy when I give 'em a rest for a while and come back later).

I actually may have wrong 5 as well as I can't see difference in my 5 to exposition (as same start and end and thought one of those would be logical correct letter).
I probably already own the prize, I'd just like to be able to solve the puzzle :' )
I'll send my answers to mrkgnao too, for a check. :P

Got back from work and yeah, the numbers were suddenly easy. Possibly even got the 16 done now as well (didn't think of tweaking the base word).

It's invalid though so there's a mistake somewhere, time to get a cup of coffee and check some of 'em more.
I never could figure out these puzzles.. probably because I never tried hard enough... but thanks and +1 :)

Excellent!

The perils of making puzzles out of game codes. It may be my favorite game on GOG so I like to give it away. I have some more obscure game codes lined up for the next puzzle. So instead of posting "I have it", folks can post "Don't want it!"

Good that you've discovered the trick!

Gede (and mrkgnao) commented on a lack of redundancy (secondary method for confirming a clue) in the puzzle, as in a crossword. I imagined that the 'trick" would provide enough redundancy so that unsolved clues could be nailed down, but it seems I was wrong.

Feel free to ask around or message me to confirm what you have correct (though I'll be out for several hours).
I slept on it, but even with all 20 answers in front of me I'm still not seeing the relationships to break the code. So I have to throw in the towel on this one, alas.

But thanks for the challenge!
I actually haven't discovered any trick, I just got the number length answers to every line.
No idea on how to make a code out of them though =D

Only tried the first letters (and then with capitalization on the letters which had their lines started with capitalized letter), but no idea and got no feeling on where to proceed either.
