Alexrd: Are you sure this is DRM-free?

"Alle Spiele sind kompatibel mit Windows XP (SP2+), Windows Vista (SP1+) und Windows 7 (32- und 64-bit) und sind frei von DRM."

Translation: "All games are compatible with Windows XP (SP2+), Windows Vista (SP1+) and Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit) and are free of DRM."

I know there's a later version with Albion Prelude, and that one required Steam, but the box without it is entirely DRM-free.

Ah, it must be that one. Thanks for the clarification.

By the way, is "007: Blood Stone" DRM-free or disc based DRM?

It has a SecuROM-based disc check. Nothing out of the ordinary, no StarForce or anything.

In fact, no CD key if I recall.

Thanks. That's acceptable in my book.
Added Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Scania Truck Driving Simulator.

Wait, Hydrophobia was released as a retail game in Europe? And it's DRM-free? Does anyone have a link to someplace I can buy it from in the U.S.?

It should be in English, I don't think a German-language version was ever produced. Can't confirm for myself that it's DRM-free, but enough people seem to say it is.
These games had no DRM, not even disc codes.

Beyond Good & Evil (That's Hot!)
Broken Sword 4: The Angel of Death (Gamers Choice)
Bully: Scholarship Edition
Tomb Raider: Legend (Best of Atari)

Added Bully, thanks :)

BG&E, BS4 and TR: Legend I've left out because they're too old.

Oops. Just noticed the 2008 requirement. In that case, none of my suggestions were valid:

Beyond Good & Evil = 2003
Broken Sword 4 = 2006
Bully = 2005
Tomb Raider Legend = 2006

DRM_free_fan: Bully = 2005
The PC version of Bully came out in 2008, which is why I've included it :)
I just wanted to add that the retail version of Mass Effect 2 was DRM-free in the US as well as Europe. (It's only listed for Europe right now.)

Man, I totally overlooked this topic until now. Instantly added it to my favourites and up-repped it!

A few additions:

- Bionic Commando

Shure about the German version, but I think every other version too.

- Rogue Warrior

MP needs Steam, but SP runs without any online activation.

- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

This was released before THQ sold their soul to Gabe.

- Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Lets you decide wether to install it with online activation or not. If you go for the DRM'ed installation you don't need the disc in order to play it, but the SP can be installed and played without activation.

- Medal of Honor 2010

Not entirely shure about this one, as I haven't tried it out for myself yet. It's still lying sealed on my shelf, waiting to be unwrapped. But the text on the backside of the case doesn't mention any forced activation. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. Registration with EA is only mandatory for online features.

- Overlord 2

Well, it's DRM-free.

- Fallout 3 GotY

The list features only the regular version without the DLCs so far. But the GotY is also DRM-free.

- Velvet Assassin

US and UK versions need Steam. Only the German version is DRM-free. The text on the backside of the case says it needs to be activated online, however, as far as I know that's a mistake.

- The Saboteur

SecuROM, but only disc based.

- Devil May Cry 4

No online activation needed.

- Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X

We all know what happend with H.A.W.X 2, but the first game of the series actually was completely DRM-free.

- Prince of Persia 2008

Has already been mentioned in the thread but is still missing in the list.

- Turok

The remake from 2008.

- Call of Duty: World at War

At least I think so.

That's it for now. Maybe I can come up with some more later.

edit:

- Far Cry 2

German based publisher ak tronic, specialized in re-releasing budget versions for the German market, has a version of FC2 in their "Software Pyramide" lineup which is initially DRM-free. I think even the DLCs are included.
