Actually, I think NC has gotten funnier since abandoning the "Nostalgia" part. At first I hated the new focus on sketches, but I think his comedic timing and gags have gotten a lot better than they were however many years back.

His "joke wording" is still kind of awkward sometimes, but I think on the whole the show's gotten a lot sharper.

It's such bullshit that the last part of this review isn't even his channel. I guess it's because of YT... but if that's the case, why is it still on other people's channels?

Youtube cracked down hard when Viacom filled that lawsuit way back in 2007. Many of Noah’s earlier videos contained music cuts for the jokes, and there’s enough to make some of the reviews practically unsalvageable, like Final Fantasy VIII part 4 where he used Wild Wild West, Afternoon Delight, and The Time of My Life. When he saw which way the wind was blowing he switched to Blip TV (Bogart and some others went too) but that video service was shut down this year. Even today those videos wouldn't stay up. Some gaming publishers might recognize the value of the advertising, but record labels would rather the world burn than let someone dance to an unauthorized 15 second music sample.

With his own site in such disrepair as well, its become somewhat down to those other channels to archive this stuff.

I archived a lot of his videos for myself when I heard about Blip's oncoming demise. With him being so inactvie now, I was afraid all that stuff would be lost forever. I hoped I got everything that's not on YT, but some things probably escaped my attention.

I'm not even sure if he's working on reediting some of those videos and uploading them on YT, or looking for another host, or if he just gave up on it alltogether. It really sucks, I can understand him being fed up with YT, running out of material, just not wanting to make more reviews, all that, but I wish he'd give his fans some proper updates on what's going on (or not going on, as the case may be).

And he's not wrong, even if he wasn't very polite about it here. He followed up on it in a more coolheaded manner later here, and I agree with him pretty much in everything. Ofcourse, everyone should play the game in the way they like, it's all about having fun. But I agree- flawed characters are more interesting. Unique characters are more fun. I recently convinced my players to use a book like the one he describes in that video to randomize their characters, get some skills, some background some flaws, and it really has made our campaing so much more fun, it turned quickly into something really special. And if we were playing D&D (we're playing Warhammer FRP 2ed) I'd convince them to do the 3d6 thing. I know from personal experience that flawed, imperfect characters with unique characteristics, be it good or bad, are way more fun to play.

Does he apply this thinking to D&D video games like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights?

The people that keep telling me to play a wizard style class for Planescape would certainly piss-off Spoony.
