The voters have spoken! 75% of us think we should negotiate with terrorists.
==== Overview ====
Civil Rights: Excellent (69) [+1]
Economy: Good (46)
Political Freedoms: Excellent (72)

The Free Land of Gogan is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Doctor Marcin with an even hand, and notable for its ban on automobiles. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 2.148 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 55%, and even higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion, prime real estate is devoted to wind farms and solar energy generators, and euthanasia is legal. Crime is totally unknown. Gogan's national animal is the Goglodyte, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Gog.

Gogan is ranked 4,798th in The North Pacific and 108,893rd in the world for Largest Cheese Export Sector, scoring -4 on the Mozzarella Productivity Index.

==== Issues ====
21 hours ago: Following new legislation in Gogan, euthanasia is legal.
The overview has been updated following the last decisions made.

Child Casino Shock (issue 326)
Children as young as eight have been spotted gambling in some of Gogan's seedier casinos.

1. Social activist Stephanie Lee is outraged. "Gambling needs to be outlawed immediately. It's no wonder children are becoming sucked into the vice, with adults setting such a poor example. Gambling is a stain on Gogan's international reputation and it must be stopped!"

2. However, Crown Casino chairperson Lars True says, "What's wrong with children gambling? It prepares them for the realities of life, teaching them that success or failure is not due to hard work or intelligence, but the roll of the dice. Besides, if kids weren't gambling, they'd be spraypainting trains."

==== Public announcement ====
326:1

Mostly because I disagree with what Lars True says. Gambling won't teach children anything good, just makes them pariahs relying solely on luck and depending too much on others.
326: dismiss Two bad options.
326:2 - I think this would actually teach the kids that by gambling they would *lose* their money, and they wouldn't continue.

I don't like either option. The casino just needs better security.
326: dismiss - no good choice given.

Question:
Is religion and religious people becoming discriminated in the country or is it just "hey it's your choice, I don't judge"?

I'm not saying churches should be built left and right, just asking if living a certain lifestyle is being look down upon in comparison to "the one right way of thinking".

I believe the last time religion was brought up was in issue 310, the result was:

Maighstir: With a small margin, it has thus been decided that Gogan has no official religion, though the people are free to practice what they wish.
Or officially:

MGT: Following new legislation in Gogan, the government has declined to declare any particular religion as its 'official' one.
It's changed over time, but this is the most recent decision. Earlier, religious people have even been deported to re-education facilities.

Thanks just curious.

326: dismiss. Neither option is very realistic.
