I'm not being hard on Ciris. I hope she knows that when people address her as a representative of GOG, the word "you" is usually not used to refer to her personally, but rather to the company she works for. It's an unfortunate shortcoming of the English language that it doesn't distinguish between second person singular and plural. At any rate, I am not criticising Ciris, I am criticising GOG. I doubt very much that Ciris is responsible for GOG's policies.

For what it's worth Ciris, if you did take any of my comments personally, I apologize. I am not holding you personally responsible for the current situation, just your company. You just have the misfortune of being the closest thing to an official "ear of GOG" at the moment ;-)

Edit: Oh, and cyboff? GOG support has been advised of the problem numerous times in the past week, including links to the "WE ARE UNDER ATTACK" thread. Non-spamfighting users can't be expected to know what that thread is about, no, but GOG surely can.

Yeah, I stepped into this "We are under attack" thread out of sheer curiosity, one could say I stepped in by accident!
If the spam would have been in more than just a few threads I would have noticed them earlier.
So, it`s totally understandable that some people didn`t even hear the enemy knocking against the gates.

I only knew about the We Are Under Attack thread from previous spam problems so when it pops up on the front page I tend to click and see what's going on. Otherwise I probably never would have noticed as I never really visit the game specific forums, and there was only the occasional spam post in General Discussion.

I'm not surprised people didn't notice.

But that being said, numerous PMs were sent to blues and support tickets were sent highlighting the problem so even if most of the users weren't aware, GoG should have been.

I didn't do much this time around, but there have been people reporting and removing the spam around the clock and they should be rewarded (free game, store credit) for the sterling job they did :)

GOG staff knows.

It is totally understandable that some people didn't hear about it (it's mostly been in the subforums; and not everyone checks "We're under attack"), but GOG were contacted by multiple users several times.

I probably came across a bit harsh in the forum merge thread when I mentioned the spam problem, but it really is appreciated that someone from GOG actually showed up. Thanks, Ciris.

We really need to have some way of elevating certain support tickets, by the way. Maybe something that requires multiple users to use so that it can't be abused by someone frustrated because their game isn't working? I don't know if that's even possible, but it'd definitely be helpful in case this happens again. Or if someone finds a new glitch and the forum redirects to a pony site, which also once happened. Good times. Frightening times, but good times.

A lot of people were battling on the fronts of Bam War, but without toxicTom's scripts we were doomed, so he should be awarded with Medal Of Honor! :D
