Wishbone: It started on January 27th, according to
this post. The next
678 posts detail the battle we've been through since then. I do recommend that you go through it all when you can find the time. It should be educational. Not least to showcase how many people have warned you of the problem, including how bad it actually was, and how thoroughly you've ignored them until now.
Still, it's good that you've finally woken up, but damn, try listening to your users once in a while, eh? And keep a better eye on your own forum in the future.
cyboff: please don't be so hard on Ciris - it's not THAT visible that forum named "WE ARE UNDER ATTACK" is about spam bots and not about some game... I know the forum for long time, but still don't remember its name when I need to search for it :D
I'm not being hard on Ciris. I hope she knows that when people address her as a representative of GOG, the word "you" is usually not used to refer to her personally, but rather to the company she works for. It's an unfortunate shortcoming of the English language that it doesn't distinguish between second person singular and plural. At any rate, I am not criticising Ciris, I am criticising GOG. I doubt very much that Ciris is responsible for GOG's policies.
For what it's worth Ciris, if you did take any of my comments personally, I apologize. I am not holding you personally responsible for the current situation, just your company. You just have the misfortune of being the closest thing to an official "ear of GOG" at the moment ;-)
Edit: Oh, and cyboff? GOG support has been advised of the problem numerous times in the past week, including links to the "WE ARE UNDER ATTACK" thread. Non-spamfighting users can't be expected to know what that thread is about, no, but GOG surely can.
