I am still here, and it appears I will be until removed from the game via more natural methods.

I have little to say at the moment, however, as reading RW’s flip (SK or scum?) would have been the only thing worth discussing at this point. Let me further illustrate the difficulty we face…

See, I’m not the Town Cop. I’m actually Mafia Role Cop. Unfortunately, I received literally zero help during night zero from my one and only scumbuddy, so I had to do everything on my own. I did figure to start targeting the prize winners first, so I scanned RW… and lo and behold, I got a reading of “Serial Kliler.” (Nothing about “restrictor” btw, I don’t know if I just wasn't told that, or RW made it up, or what.) I actually thought I was too obvious with this post! I overplayed my hand there, but thankfully only RW himself caught it. I decided to claim Town Cop because I thought with the likelihood of multiple factions, it would be possible to convince town that there were two cops…. And even if nobody believed that, with my Day 1 successful conviction and lynch of RW, if a 2nd cop did claim it would look more likely that I was the real one… and at worst, at least I flushed out the real cop early.

Except, of course, that absolutely nothing in the above paragraph is true. I am the Town Cop. (Or at least a Town Cop!) I swear it. Really.

So if I get nightkilled, or you lynch me tomorrow, and there’s no card flip… what are you going to do? What did you learn? How will you evaluate it? What does the lynch wagon mean? What does anything mean? What happens with the next player you suspect of a scum slip? How will you analyze that?

Flub tried to push us back to the duct tape bit (didn't you catch his push on that?) but if that kind of subtle, barely-there text is supposed to be the substitute for actually revealing a dead character’s role, name, and alignment… I don’t think it’s a very good trade.


When even your assistant moderator Kryspyn has to directly link to a Wiki entry that says this:

“Bastard Mod games should not be confused with bad games, which are self-explanatory. However, the line between the two tends to be dangerously thin. If players called your game "bastard" when you were not actively trying to make it one, you should consider getting your next setup looked over by better reviewers.”

Whatever your intentions may have been at the start, no matter how much hard work you put into your google docs, your game has bad problems. Whether it’s Master of Orion 3 or Terror at Tres Leches, a game that doesn’t give feedback to the player quickly proves frustrating, and games that are frustrating usually aren’t satisfying experiences… and despite the myriad of insults you hurl at the players, it’s not their fault.

Hopefully the more optimistic among you are correct, and the no-flip was a one-time event only, destroying only Day 2 discussion, and we’ll all look back at my foolishness as temporary hot air. I know I’m getting blamed right now for poor attitude, so this will be my final post complaining and I will attempt to return to my usual Tree-Yelling Hobo self.

I’ll continue until killed in-game. I’ll report my findings if given the opportunity. I’ll contribute as best I can, and hope for the best.
