== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Seems to be lacking. This is what GOG Galaxy Beta has so far?

Well from that list I only have RISE OF THE TRIAD. It might be worth a shot to see how this GOG Galaxy Beta works.

Aliens Versus Predator Classic 2000 might be worth a shot when the price drops.

I can confirm Gog Galaxy 1.1.5 (Beta) does work under Windows XP Professional SP3 and runs pretty fast.

However it's lacking certain things that would probably jump start its success.

The Galaxy Client should let you sort GOG's Software Library for GOG Galaxy playable multiplayer games that can be purchased making it easier to find these games.

The Galaxy Client should also let you sort your own purchased GOG library so you know which games purchased are worth installing first that can use GOG Galaxy to increase awareness.

Also add a way to locate players with the same games bought that will work on Gog Galaxy and a status symbol to see if they've installed the game yet. This would encourage GOG players to ask each other to download and install the game if they haven't so they can network play.

Gog could also promote more of the GOG Galaxy multiplayer games by offering them as deep discounts or Freebies to help bring in more GOG Galaxy players. They could start with some older popular games. Maybe that Worms World Party Remastered could be made GOG Galaxy compliant.

These two other Worms games are small and could generate quick users to come play if made GOG Galaxy network compliant with them.

Worms United is pretty small and has multiplayer - 153MB - quick install

Worms Fort is 430MB - a bit bigger but I think they offered this as a freebie recently after the recent GOG Winter sale and it has multiplayer.

That Rise Of The Triads in comparison is 6.1GB and would take a bit of time to download and get going on the fly.

All games above work on Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10).

Some other popular games that might be possible if GOG struck a deal with Blizzard they could sell Warcraft 1 and 2 and adapt it for GOG Galaxy Multiplayer. These games might require IPX emulation and www.kali.net might be a good partner to work with to do some sort of source code exchange to make that happen.

Doom 1 and 2 from id Software would also be worth adapting to GOG Galaxy.

Grand Ages: Medieval, Tropico 5. Stronghold Crusader 2, and Galactic Civilization 3 also use Galaxy for multiplayer. I also believe that list is wrong about Trine 3... while it uses Galaxy for achievements, I don't believe it uses it for MP but I could be wrong.
Galaxy reports that SOTS: The Pit is incompatible with it, and as such refuses to import it. Never thought the day would come when I'd say that I prefer Steam over GoG, but I think it finally has. It is a sad day indeed.

1. Galaxy is in BETA
2. Steam has been out over 10 years.
3. You don't need Galaxy to play, like it has always been on GOG so why is Steam now suddenly better? Doesn't make much sense.

Have you tried playing The Pit through its various updates? I've had to uninstall it a few times just to make sure everything gets installed in the correct order to use the newest DLC and make sure the game is updated. THAT is what doesn't make much sense. I don't give a fig how long Steam has been out, GoG has been doing its thing long enough to fix this garbage.

I suppose I had hoped that the advent of something like Galaxy would come with a proper method for installing updates. Instead I get a message that the game isn't even compatible with it. THAT doesn't make much sense either, in my book.

Skeksis25: Like I said, I was not interested in someone telling me how I'm wrong for liking achievements. Just wondering when they will be implemented properly here.
avatar
Future_Suture: Don't worry. I do not intend to tell you that you are wrong for liking them. I was an achievement hunter myself up until recently. Did some reflecting on that, however, and the article puts what I feel into words I can agree with. Just wanted to share and see how you feel about the matter after reading the article. I didn't provide much context, though. My bad.
Yeah I understand why its probably good to not care about achievements and I don't really go out of my way to try to 100% them. But I like certain ones like difficulty achievements which motivate me to play on harder difficulty modes or achievements that sort of push you to discover more of a game than you would normally.

For example in Skyrim, I was ready to be done with the game, so I tarted achievement hunting and saw the achievement to collect 15 daedric artifacts. That pushed me to try and discover all the daedric quests which happen to be the best quests in the game(in my opinion). I would never have played the Mass Effect games on Insanity were it not for achievements and that's a great way to play those games as it pushes you to use all your abilities.

@BKGaming, thanks for that list. Hopefully they include all games that have achievements listed in this soon.

Edit: I do see Witcher 2 in that list, however I just finished the game less than a week ago on Galaxy and 0 achievements unlocked. If they are supposed to, maybe this is a bug and the team can look into it?

SotS is among a handful of games Galaxy straight-up doesn't support, all of which are properly labelled in your library. In my own library I see:

1. Sword the Stars
2. Hearts of Iron III
3. Sin Gold
4. Hotline Miami 2: Digital Comics (doubt they'll ever fix this, there's basically no incentive to do so)
5. Penumbra - Requiem.
6. Simon the Sorcerer 3D
7. Atlantis 2: Beyond Atlantis
8. F/A-18E Super Hornet

There's probably more, is anyone aware of a more complete list?

I imagine SotS is on the list as an extension of its myriad installation problems, like how it throws a fit if you install the DLC in the "wrong" order. But I have no idea what's wrong with the others.

So whatever achievements you get on Steam will they be transferable to GOG Galaxy and vice versa or are your achievements basically tied down to whatever Gaming Client you log on to? I'd hate to achieve a whole bunch on Steam then not be able to port that to GOG Galaxy later on and vice versa. Maybe if the the game actually stores your achievements locally then then it wouldn't matter which gaming client you are playing on and would update to Steam or GOG Galaxy when you connected.

GOG should release a complete list of games supported by GOG Galaxy for:

Achievements support like Steam.

Network playable gaming just for online multiplayer.

At the moment I have no clue how many titles of each are supported other than the under a dozen stated by a few users.

I think the GOG version would have its pros being no DRM and being to play offline.

However if GOG Galaxy truly wants to pick up user support they have to release network playable titles for online multiplayer in the beginning even if it means releasing a few of the older games at a deep discount or for free to lure new users to try it out. I mentioned the Worms multiplayer games earlier where it doesn't tax the network much. They already have Doom 1 and Doom 2 on GOG so it would be a matter of adapting these into the Gog Galaxy engine and I remember playing this over the dial up modem era so these are very low data bandwidth hoggers just to network players. Once you get the foot traffic onto the system the new GOG "Galaxiers" (just coined a new term) will eventually buy other GOG titles (newer ones) to play. But in the beginning these older titles are much smaller and less data taxing during the GOG Galaxy beta test stages (great for ironing out any bugs) and have a lot of online multiplayer game play fun and that's what keeps people coming back and interested in the gaming community during the initial kickstart.

Right now these achievement updates probably won't be a huge drawer of new Galaxiers since it's just a matter of having them on Steam with the DRM being the only difference.

I just checked your list.

Most of these titles hover around the $20-$50 range. A bit on the pricier side if you want to test out GOG Galaxy multiplayer.

http://www.gog.com/game/trine_3_the_artifacts_of_power
$22
3.7GB

http://www.gog.com/game/tropico_5
$40
2.9GB

http://www.gog.com/game/grand_ages_medieval
$40
4.2GB

http://www.gog.com/game/stronghold_crusader_2
$50
3.6GB

http://www.gog.com/game/galactic_civilizations_iii
$50
6.6GB

What you need in the beginning stages are lower priced GOG Galaxy multiplayer games in the $2-$5 range.

Quick action MTV attention span style gaming sessions that last half an hour or shorter each for repeated game play.

Here's one that would draw some players formerly hosted on Steam and GFWL.

http://www.amazon.com/Mortal-Kombat-Arcade-Kollection-Download/dp/B0093N3Z0M

Make this DRM free. I already bought this for Steam but I'd play this on GOG Galaxy if they hosted it.

Microsoft's Gaming For Windows Live shut down so GOG could take this over and its fan base.

Focusing on more expensive and achievement based games in the beginning is not going to be a way to boost GOG Galaxy users to come flooding in and like another user said if the players are really into achievements titles they are probably going to stick with Steam until GOG Galaxy gets out of Beta. If achievements done in Steam can't be synced with GOG Galaxy and vice versa there's going to be some upset people and if most of their achievement style games are on Steam then it's going to harder for GOG Galaxy to pull these people off Steam even if it is DRM Free.

We've already tested Galaxy multiplayer for many hours and I can assure you, everything works just fine.

AvP is on sale now, 2.19€ is not a lot of money, is it? Grab a copy and try it for yourself.
Besides that, AvP and Rise of the Triads were given for free, along with many, many other not that long ago. Don't be too greedy..

Which games were tested for multiplayer on GOG Galaxy?

You got a complete list that you guys tested?

Took a look at AVP. The gameplay didn't look so great. And it's not about the money I spent a good amount on the Winter sale already and one of the games I bought became free a few days later. So yeah I can wait.

Maybe they can bring ST: Elite Force 1, 2, and Quake 3 to the fold.

Of course every game which requires Galaxy for multiplayer was tested : )
Some of them, like AvP, Rise of the Triad and beta of The Witcher Adventure Game were widely available for everyone who wanted to participate in tests.

For me AvP is still great game, single, multi as well as co-op.. Enjoyed the game just a few months ago, as much as in the past.

Personally I would love to see very first Moto Racer with working multiplayer. I had a great time playing with friends back in time.. But bringing back multiplayer to older games isn't easy task as you may already know. Especially with limited resources and unknown market, since many of us are older farts, preoccupied with their own lives and desires ; )

Surely, there is plenty to do. There are also things I don't like about Galaxy, but the team is working their tits off to make it better and I appreciate they're focusing rather on stability and optimization than new features.
